Basketball 2 High Schools tossed from playoffs for 'tanking'.

  1. Leave it to the ladies to attempt to pull this shit.. That's just disgraceful, why even decide to play the sport at the beginning of the season if you didn't want to play the whole thing all the way out and try and win some hardware.
  2. The story I heard was that it was the last game of the regular season. They were going to be the #4 seed, but losing the games would have dropped them to the #5 seed, which would have somehow given them a much easier opponent in the state championship tournament. I believe that, lol @ the TSSAA because they do a bunch of boneheaded shit.

If it IS the state championship, that's... no.

  3. Hmm interesting, yeah screw that.. keep it professional.. also how does dropping a seed give you a easier opponent, the conference they have there must have a couple teams all pretty much tied or within one game of each other for that to happen.
  4. According to USA Today, what actually happened was that in their region of the 4-AAA tournament, they already lost once and were playing a consolation game. The winner would have went on to face Blackman High - defending state champions and powerhouse program - while the loser of said game would have been put in a different bracket and avoided Blackman High, so both teams tried to lose to improve their chances next round.

I used to follow Tennessee High School football but stopped when they started doing this shit, adding convoluted brackets and consolation games to the point where the local beat writers were frustrated at the thought of even following it. This is roughly the same thing.

Why are you having a consolation game to begin with? If you've created a situation where having two losses in a state championship tournament is beneficial: Fail.
