Sometimes we play big cities and other times, ROH events are close to big cities but in more suburban zip codes. The latter was the case this weekend as towns south of Pittsburgh and north of Buffalo hosted Ring of Honor on the “Reloaded” Tour. Here are some of my observations.

I think I jinxed Nick Jackson. Two weeks ago, I was talking to the Young Bucks about their travels and exploits and Nick said that his wife was due in early-to-mid October. I said that both of my sons were born a month early with no complications. Wouldn’t you know it? Nick’s wife gets close to labor this weekend a month early from her due date so Matt took up the charge as the “One Buck” this weekend. Nick and his wife are in our thoughts and so is Adam Cole’s jaw that took the brunt of Matt’s Superkicks.

Nick’s absence led to a couple of adjustments to Friday night’s card including a fantastic main event. The Addiction vs The Briscoes was as good as expected, with some saying Friday night’s match topped their initial meeting last fall in Toledo. ANX and the Kingdom had a great tag team match with a rematch almost a certainty.

This weekend was a reinforcement that the best Tag Team division in Professional Wrestling is in Ring of Honor. We saw the Briscoes, the Addiction, War Machine and the ROH World Tag Team Champions, the Kingdom, in addition to the House of Truth and the returning All Night Express all in action. Competing in New Japan over the weekend was reDRagon and Roppongi Vice and the Young Bucks were represented as well on our cards in Pennsylvania and New York. Throw other teams in the mix like Pro Wrestling NOAH’s GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champs, Killer Elite Squad (Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr.) and the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, the Bullet Club’s “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows from New Japan, it’s obvious that the ROH Tag Team Champions are the best Tag Team in Professional Wrestling.

We learned on Saturday that the 5th and deciding match in the Best of 5 series between ACH and Matt Sydal will take place on Friday November 13th in Milwaukee, WI at the Turner Hall Ballroom. Not only will the winner of that match take the series but he will also be the first entrant into Survival of the Fittest.

The Convocation Center on the California University of PA campus was a beautiful facility but the Kenan Center in Lockport, NY was different. Gritty and hot, it had an “old-school” charm that made it special to me.

Stevie Richards made his in-ring debut on Saturday night in a Proving Ground match against Undisputed ROH Champion Jay Lethal. As great as Stevie is, Lethal was better. What makes Lethal great is how he uses everything at his disposal to win and no one has figured out how to beat Lethal. The only one to get close so far is Roderick Strong, who held Jay to a time limit draw at “Death Before Dishonor”. No disrespect to Stevie, who is a great friend but he fought 3-to-1 odds and had no answer at the end of the match. Lethal is the absolute Best in the World.

It’s time to start paying attention to Taeler Hendrix and the Women of Honor. With the backing of Truth Martini and the House of Truth, will Hendrix become as unstoppable as Lethal?

Moose and #BigMike got nose to nose on Saturday in the main event. Big time physical war that I could see again, please?

While I should remain impartial, Adam Cole’s callous actions at “All Star Extravaganza” made me sick. I enjoyed each of the Superkicks that Cole absorbed this weekend from Matt Jackson. When Kyle O’Reilly gets back from Japan, I look forward to seeing Kyle’s revenge plans unfold.
