Computer Tower?

  1. Just curious if anyone knows if this is a good tower or not.

    Gateway SX2110G-UW318

What I like about it is the HDMI port which is what I was looking for in a tower so I can hook it to my HD TV.
I had a Gateway laptop as my first laptop & LOVED it.
  2. well it's an entry level tower for everyday use as long as you don't plan to game with it or do heavy photo/video editing you should be fine.
  3. No. For the $300 price I'm seeing, that is beyond awful. Order a custom build from a good site, you'll get so much more for your money. I can help you with this if needed.
  4. Custom built? What do you mean? I am not looking to spend more then $300 & I want some kind of warranty. I want it to do basic stuff. I won't be using it for gaming or anything.
  5. I don't know that tower, sorry :(
  6. You choose the parts, they build. Tailored perfectly to you.
The desktop you posted will barely do the basics, it is very slow.
I can find a good US based business, and put together a custom pc for you. Tell me your desktop usage and a maximum budget and I'll do it, if you want me to.
  7. If its a better deal, I would love it! I don't want to go over $300. I use a laptop now & never owned my own desktop so I am not sure on all the specs. I want it to have an HDMI port so I can use it with my HD TV, have enough memory for pictures, videos & music, and I think thats it really. I am honestly not sure on anything else. Being able to burn/play HD videos would be a plus but that it probably expensive lol

  8. Okay, working on it.
I got one built for $321 right now, looking around for better deals.
  9. 1.4Ghz dual core for $298. Holy shit that is expensive.
  10. Yea, for $23 extra, I've built a 3.6GHz quad core with better quality parts.

  11. Thank you I appreciate the help. I have no idea about core processors or anything like that. lol
  12. A core reads/executes the commands. The more cores, the more you can do at once. The higher the clock speed (eg. 1.7Ghz) the faster the core can run.

  13. Teach me your ways young jedi :gusta:
  14. :lol1:just pm me if you need any more help.
  15. Save up a litle bit more and buy something that blows away your laptop. What you are getting now is a slight improvement. Unless you just want it for bsing on like you said.
  16. Expensive doesnt always mean better. Solidus got me parts for a pretty damn solid gaming pc for £450, woulda been over £800 in stores
  17. That really wasn't my point, but if that's what you got out of it, okay.
  18. I found some pre-built bargains. - $279 and already 4x better than that Gateway. $329 and has an HDMI port.

    Or my suggested choice,
Change the option under "Socket FM3 Desktop Processors" to AMD Athlon II X3 450 Triple Core 3.2 GHZ and you'll get a price of $342.

Another option for better graphics performance,
Change the "Socket FM2 Desktop Processor" to AMD A6-5400k and the "SATA Hard Drive" to Western Digital 500GB Caviar Blue for a price of $348.
  19. Thank you I appreciate the help.

The main thing I was looking for is an hdmi port to hook the computer up to the tv & use the tv as a screen & for sound. Since we don't have cable & probably wont be able to afford it when we move, this will be saving us money. $329 and has an HDMI port. < --- Can you explain how this one is better, aside from it being wireless internet which I LOVE! lol

  20. It has a much more powerful processor, 1.4Ghz on the one you posted is incredibly bad.
Both have the same DDR3 RAM
It has a 1TB HDD as opposed to your 500GB
It has a wireless network card built in
    Has VGA and HDMI

is like 7/10 (for what you want)

    is like 3/10
