Daniel Bryan missing WrestleMania 31? An idea.

  1. WWE needs stars. Big names.

Current performers: Daniel Bryan, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Triple H, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Batista, Kane, The Big Show, CM Punk (his name is mentioned every week on Raw). Those are the big names of the current WWE. All of them are known by every wrestling fan around the world.

Then we have the "Potential" big names: Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, Hideo Itami, Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Finn Bálor, Kalisto, The Ascension, The Vaudevillians, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (need a team name). There's probably more names, but I'll just put the ones I like at the moment. These guys are "supposedly" the future of the WWE. That's a very nice group of names to be labeled the future of a million dollar business. It makes me very excited to be a wrestling fan.

But, how do the "Potential" big names become actual big names? Main eventing WrestleMania? Beating a big name? Cutting good promos? Cutting a shoot promo? Being a good wrestler? Drink beer? Never give up?

Those are ways we've seen guys become big names in the past. None of those have happened more than once. There's never been two Hulk Hogans. There's never been two Stone Colds. There's never been two CM Punks. There's never been two John Cenas.

How does the next "potential" big name become an actual big name next time? Beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 is the obvious answer. But no, how about this:

Be the man that makes Daniel Bryan miss WrestleMania 31. This gives DB plenty of time to get 100% healthy and get as many surgeries as recommended by doctors.

But obviously, this hurts the companies wallet. Not having DB on the Mania card would cost them money wise and by getting a lot of hate by people like you and me. But, this allows them to do Rock vs Brock. I'd take a wild guess and say Rock vs Brock will draw huge money. Possibly the two biggest names ever that have ties with WWE. Can you imagine Rock and Heyman promos? Which means huge Raw ratings. Obviously, this means either The Rock or Brock Lesnar have to win the Royal Rumble. And obviously, Brock is already champion, so The Rock would be the Royal Rumble winner. Which most likely won't be the favorite choice by people like you and me. But still, Rock vs Brock, and Rock vs Heyman, has a great sound to it.

Now, how to book this idea? Who would it be?

Promote Daniel Bryans return weeks in advance. Have him return to a great wrestling city. The pop for his return would be insane. I'd say do this before the Royal Rumble so DB misses that too. Have DB hype the crowd with his YES chants, cut a short promo about how he feels to be back and able to compete. Then simply have The Next Big Name take him out. Have one if the most brutal beat down in history. Break the PG barrier. Make it bloody. Make it violent. Have the announcers and all the people at ringside leave in fear. Imagine the complete silence and shock by everyone in the arena and at home while everyone's favorite superstar gets the most brutal beat down in history. After that, have the WWE sell it. Have Triple H say he had nothing to do with it. Have him say he found out The Next Big Name payed the security off so they wouldn't stop him. Have him announce DB will miss even more time, right after his return. The Next Big Name would be hated. By ALL the DB fans. All those fans would boo the hell out of him. He will be by far the biggest heel in the WWE.

Then, have it continue. Have The Next Big Name target the next top face. Ambrose? Cena? Orton (face turn being rumored)? Jericho? Stone Cold? I'd hope for Ambrose as that can elevate two guys to another level. But WWE would probably feed him right to Cena. Which isn't a bad thing. Vince will just have to swallow his pride and let Cena put someone over. All leading to a match at WrestleMania. Preferably a gimic match, Last Man Standing, No Holds Barred, etc. Give them a good 20 minutes and have a dramatic ending.
Cena taking a huge fall off the stage, through the stage, hit by a car, something crazy. Causing Cena to miss some time, I'd say at least a month to really sell it. Then have DB return shortly after Mania and have a long fued. Preferably until SummerSlam. Have it get personal. Make Brie get attacked and miss time. This can really develop DBs character to show a more aggressive side.

This will probably get some hate. Which is understandable. But it will create a big name. Which is needed.
  2. I don't recall hearing punk talked about on Raw- unless you count the jackasses that still think it's cool to chant his name during AJ's matches.
So DB misses two consecutive RR, comes back to job to a total newcomer and we have Part Timer Vs Part Timer at Mania? Whilst the WWE would probably love that idea, I would truly hate it.
  3. This ain't happening. And I wouldn't wanna see it, tbh.
  4. Wel, it would be a great way to get heat on the guy and give DB time off if he really needs it, I'd be fine with it.
  5. Well, while it would be a great way of getting someone heat, I sincerely doubt this alone would make them "the next big name" or even the biggest heel on the show. Brock Lesnar ending the Streak left the crowd in stunned silence and got him a decent bit of heat the following night on Raw as well, but all these months later and people have already reverted back to cheering for Brock Lesnar like it never happened. How this person was able to sustain the heat AFTER the Daniel Bryan feud would determine how big of a name he could be. Normally, committing dastardly acts alone isn't enough to create the next mega-heel.

If you really want to foster someone into the next big heel, then have Bryan win the championship from Brock at Mania and have him cashed in on by Rollins. I know Rollins is already a heel and Bryan getting cashed in on twice and being screwed out of another championship reign is pretty redundant, but it's an idea and it would be the pinnacle of the audience's contempt for Seth. I'm sure they don't want Daniel Bryan missing Wrestlemania since he's one of their biggest names now and he'll be more than healthy enough to compete by then.

Anything but The Rock vs Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31 for the championship.
  6. Lol wot.
  7. He forgot to mention he was posting from his time machine

  8. ...You do realize WWE will just bury the heel who takes out DB after they get tired of the angle a month later, two max...right?
  9. Sounds good to me. DB is the guy we want to see.
