News DirecTV Reportedly In Negotiations with WWE Over Pay-Per-View Events

Discussion in 'General WWE' started by CM Punk, Apr 8, 2015.

  1. - DirecTV is reportedly in talks with WWE about once again carrying their pay-per-view event.

DirecTV usually has their customer service operators refer callers asking about WWE pay-per-view events to the WWE Network. However, the operators were instructed not to direct callers anywhere for WrestleMania 31 because Direct is interested in getting back on good terms with WWE.

  2. Since no one commented, I thought I'd share my two cents.
    Idgaf.
I will though if it's Dish Network.

  3. ^lol A pity reply to his own thread[IMG]. That's a first.

On topic, this makes no difference to me personally since I watch every PPV for free on watchwrestling after it happens anyway.

  4. Well, there's still SOME people who buy traditional PPVs, I guess.

  5. I wouldn't want to carry WWE PPVs at this point if I were a provider. What's the point? They can't be making much off them at this point.

Who and why? It must be about .000001% of wrestling fans

  6. Idk, but I do remember reading some figures a few months back and there were quite a few people who still bought PPVs. Idk if they're from countries that don't have the network or if they're american but have bad internet connection, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure I read that there were still people buying.

  7. What Leo says sounds reasonable to be fair. There are parts of America that don't have as good a broadband structure/set up than the more urban areas. So there could be people from those parts of the states still buying PPVs.

  8. I don't think PPV exists much outside of the US and Canada does it?

  9. There are still a decent amount of people who order PPVs, as evidenced by the 100,000 households that purchased Survivor Series last year despite the Network being free for the entire month of November.

  10. That is just sad. WWE was begging you to have something for free and you willfully pay $50 for it. Just shows why WWE can get away with what they get away with pumping out such a shit product. Look at the morons that watch their shit.

  11. It was pretty funny when the announcers pretty much just said YOU ARE IDIOTS FOR PAYING 50 BUCKS on the air. But I do see their point
Also I'm pretty sure international PPV is a thing. Not sure how much of a percentage those buys are but they do exist

  12. Still a weird, albeit interesting business strategy, telling your paying customers how big of idiots they are for putting more money into your pockets than they have to. I realize the goal is to draw as many folks to the Network as possible so that it becomes the long-term success that they need it to be, but still.

  13. Can't speak for the rest of the world. But up here in Sweden we have it. I remember dad ordering hockey games on PPV a couple of times as a kid.
And of course the old movie PPV channels of days old.

  14. Yeah, it was pretty funny to insult their customers like that besides it all.

  15. If you ask me, the only pay per views that still should be on DirecTV are the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania and SummerSlam
