  2. Waiting on you @Ovaldinho bro, you wrote your promos last week right?

  3. @Roadster I work until 8pm central, so if Oval doesn't do his promo you'll need to extend it. With Nick possibly cashing in I'm taking the champions advantage. I'll delete this and my above post when Oval posts his first promo.

Ovaldinho arrives to a blast of cheers, Ovaldinho applauds in response. He soaks in the atmosphere before making his way to the ring in a timely fashion. He hands his Umbro jacket to the ref, shaking his hand before being handed a mic.

Ovaldinho: One three count away... from becoming the holder of the belt that represents the very name of this company. The IC title may have skyrocketed in prestige and the Universal title may have the initial hype, but the belt I’m fighting for tonight has been here since the birth of IWT.

All the competitors who have come and gone. The IWT championship has stuck around.
All the GMs and staff who have come and gone. The IWT championship has stuck around.
All the other championships that have come and gone. The IWT championship has stuck around.
All the competitors who have held the IWT title have come and gone. The IWT championship has stuck around.

Aids, you may be one of, if not the most significant individual in IWT history, but even you have had a hiatus or two. Yet, the IWT title is what stays around through thick and thin. Winning the belt is the most symbolically satisfying things I could ever achieve as a wrestler. Not everyone who has held it may have been champion material, but it’s never taken off it’s shine. Being added to the list of those with the privilege of being called ‘IWT champion’ is an honour I’d sacrifice so much for. And it looks I will have to sacrifice a lot tonight to beat you.

Your obsession with drawing is understandable, if we don’t draw, how can IWT continue to stay thriving? That’s something well aware to most in IWT already, but you’ve always made a song and dance about it. I’m sure you’ll counter this very plainly about how you’re the only 5x IWT champion and that makes all your talk about drawing justified, but let’s be honest, it isn’t your fixation with getting ‘VIEWS BRO VIEWS’ that made you this successful, it’s your ability and at times the lack of quality your ‘rivals’ had. Sometimes it’s all too nauseating hearing you reference the attendance and buy-rate you drew for your match against Incognito, when you’re doing your usual shtick in catering. But those days are gone. Self-serving and self-obsessed egotists like Incognito came into IWT to merely boost their own recognition, short-term it did IWT wonders but it’s fair to say the long-term benefit felt flat. Regardless of 100 people being in attendance of 100,000… I’ll kick your damn head off the exact same way. Don’t get me wrong, I love an applause and I love showing people what I can do and I the more fans that come to watch me face Aids Johnson himself the better. But first and foremost, my job tonight is to beat Aids Johnston, and I’m ready to do just that.

I’m here to give IWT a champion who can't be called out for his metaphorical self-falatio of his merits. Despite the quality you hold, and the history you have here, it’s hard to look past the way in which you parade your statistics and accolades for your own self-validation. And sure, plenty do, even myself to a point but the extreme in which you take it to almost starts to seem like you’re trying to counter-act some sort of neurosis.

What really stuck out to me though in terms of your recent quotes was when you reiterated that ‘wins and losses don’t matter’. Now, this is a line you have long preached, and you’ll continue to knowing your persistence. I see what you’re saying in a sense, a loss isn’t always the end of the World, and a single loss won’t often derail a career. But let’s delve into this here; you have won 5 IWT titles. Say I lost the tournament that got me here and you lost to Alias or Michael… would this match be happening? No. No it wouldn’t. If you’re intent on disregarding a W/L record despite your pedigree then let that be etched into your legacy. I will not advocate you lambasting this to the rest of the locker room and to the IWT fanbase while you wear the IWT title around your waist. It’s not just insulting to the belt or everyone involved with IWT but in a way to yourself as well.

So please, come out, bring me the fighting words of a Hall of Famer, give me the elements of Aids Johnson I respect and admire, not the elements of Aids Johnson that turn you into something that’s honestly quite toxic.

  5. At the 13 second mark Aids Johnson comes out wearing his Brewers blue attire with the belt situated around his waist. He stops at the center of the stage, ignoring everything around him until the chorus hits - storming down and sliding into the ring. Aids and Oval stand in the center of the ring momentarily, nearly nose to nose, before Aids hits both corners holding up the title as his music continues. As he is getting down off the 2nd turnbuckle, a mic is tossed his direction.

I look at you, and I see potential. I listen to you, and I wonder what in the hell was I thinking? I don't need to do my boring schtick because you beat my chest over and over again for me Oval, and yet the one thing you missed out on most was the ONE thing that people really need to know....because you see anyone can say "Aids I disagree with you caring about numbers" and "Aids no one cares about a match from 2012" but what you missed out on is What you bring to the table?

You bring prestige to the IWT championship? Maybe, but how? I've faced so many who pander to people on what they dislike about me to gain their interest, but never reaise a finger saying what THEY will do to help the IWT evolve. You want to point to my statement about wins and losses not mattering in the end? When new members of the IWT come talk to me after their first loss, I cite it so they know anything can happen, so they stay. You want a leader in your IWT champion? Look no further than the man staring you in the eyes telling you that you working towards stacking the deck in your favor with pandering means nothing when I'm holding the wild card.

I don't need to cite shit tonight, you've said everything for me, the difference is that I don't have jack shit to say about you...so maybe it's time you mentioned yourself instead of trying to be my psychologist, princess.

  6. Well, Aids, it’s almost as if I knew I’d have another chance to speak, where I could then say what I can bring myself. But before I get into that, don’t think that your ‘No, how about you??’ deflection attempt simply negates what I said, you can label my critique of you as ‘pandering’ or whatever you think will minimise it’s reality, it just doesn’t quite do it for me.

To some, all I may have brought so far is Aids Johnson slander, but all you did was try to merely minimise it’s impact and make an, in fairness
[Luis forces his face to make an expression that resembles that of being mildly impressed] decent attempt to protect your ‘wins and losses don’t matter’ stance. Don’t think you’re in the driver’s seat here, though. Not for a second.

So, let me grab the wheel, turn the ignition on and hit 0-60 real quick. I brought myself here in the first place because Michael was clamouring, he was pleading for new stars. This was during IWT Mania season. IWT MANIA SEASON! And this place was still struggling to tempt names. So I thought I’d add what I could. Apparently I added a match at IWT Mania that exceeded expectations and won a blistering triple threat including the IWT veteran that I emphatically relegated to doing commentary
[Ovaldinho points to a melancholy Jwab sat at the commentary table]. I’ve wasted no time trying to help stabilise the image of this place. And that’s just in terms of matches. Even I, a relatively new name, gets stopped in the corridor, being asked for advice. Just because I’m not the first to tell everyone about it, doesn’t mean I don’t indeed help others around here.

And in the rare occasion I ever get swept up in this ‘Oh, do I contribute to IWT??’ and ‘Oh, are my matches good enough to keep this place interesting??’ train of thought, it's fine. Why? BECAUSE I DON’T NEED TO LOOK AT NIELSEN RATINGS OR BUY RATES TO KNOW I’M HELPING MAKE IWT A VIABLE ENTERPRISE, I INSTANTLY KNOW BECAUSE I KNOW DEEP DOWN IN MY HEART THAT I PUT A MATCH ON TO SATISFY THE STANDARDS OF NOT JUST MYSELF BUT THE AUDIENCE AND FELLOW IWT WRESTLERS WHO CAB LOOK AT WHAT I DO AND SEE IT AS A BAR TO REACH…

Luis takes a moment to catch his breath. He stares straight down at the ground, keeping his eyes staring at the same spot the entire time. Once his breath is back he continues on

Four years down the line, when the future generation asks about what led me to create my legacy, I won’t need to tell them how popular it was, I’ll just give them the tapes, they can see for themselves.

And to ‘evolve’ IWT… I don’t need to over-involve myself, I’m not interested in undermining Michael’s role and how the staff are an integral part of the process for IWT’s continuation and improvement. Sure, I’m happy to play an active part in welcoming new talent, training alongside greener competitors who need the help and being an ambassador for this company. I already play an active role with the second of those three, all in between the sponsorship commitments I have. That’s the most I am expected to do as a competitor and even as a champion. As a champion who wears the spirit of IWT on his bare arm, I will pride myself on putting on quality matches, coming and contributing promos & segments and doing it with passion and commitment. Like I already do. Just because I don’t act like I’m made out of gold and invincible when I’m around the rest of the IWT roster, as if I’m above them on some pedestal doesn’t mean I can’t satisfy this ‘leader’ role. Which is honestly once again just more insanity you’ve gotten inside that battered brain of yours.

The ‘leadership’ IWT needs from me stretches as far as setting a precedent for the next batch of new comers to inspire them to reach. A high percentage of newcomers nowadays are smart and intuitive as it is, and those who aren’t at least have a training ground centre. If it’s ever needed I, as champion will attend and help out. You’ve clearly been chomping at the bit to visit and assist the trainers over there…

Luis puffs his cheeks and slaps his open palm into his chin

If IWT needs a figurehead, then let a new figurehead be presented tonight, with the IWT championship. The young lions will seen an athlete that works to become better, and will feel the urgency to do the same. Them doing so will only inspire me to get even better. That cycle will be continuous to the point that IWT has the most competitive roster you can find. And I will be the next figurehead. That IWT title becoming my newest possession to go along with it.

Luis Ovaldinho wastes no time in handing his microphone back to the ref the second his final word is uttered. He paces around the ring one more time before viciously clapping his hands together and screaming "LET'S GOOOOOO!" up into the air, to which the crowd eat up and get swept up in Ovaldinho's energy. The atmosphere is contagious. Luis' eyes meet with Aids' as his head lowers down and back into its standard position

*Aids looks around as Oval paces around, laughing* Is this it? Let the new champion who is an athlete represent the IWT after tonight? The IWT moves forward, but after tonight you certainly will not. You talk and talk about what you will do when we both know you were the protoge to one of the worst champions in IWT history. You excalim the word athlete as if I do not represent that word, and it might as well be the comic sans function on my keyboard. I represent the IWT like no one else in my generation can. You took out Christian? I was the #1 to his #2, congratulations on your victory over a hasbeen. Tonight, you face the King holding the Championship you boasted about, while moments later you boast about the other world champion?

I hate people like you, honestly. I talk about what I have done and accomplished and it's a travesty and overdone, while you talk about your accolades and it somehow matters...it's absolute bullshit. I am a proud man and I have earned everything I have taken from here, it's why you wasted your first promo talking only about me while you ignored any opportunity to talk about yourself -now ask yourself why- is it because you only wanted to pander? Or was it because of your insecurities about your own character and that I would call out your flaws. This is what I hate the most.

You talked about me and made me waste my first promo because you brought NOTHING to the table that anyone hasn't brought before. It's why I question if you will bring anything to the table as champion. I stand here as a legend in this company and the man who helped save it, but you claim that IWT mania needed you like you were the dark knight coming in to save the day. IWT mania didn't need you, we were flush at the moment and Michael used his money to grab new talent...so what did you do? You latched arms with Lord Lee like a food and juiced your way to the top

You are talented, that I can see, but you have nothing on the man who runs this place, and it's the man you are looking at right not. You brought nothing to the table I haven't heard a thousand times over and "at the end of the day" everyone knows that when they win a #1 contendership, they want to face me.

Honestly I'd swear I heard this before in a Victoria Parker promo, and I hate to spoil it for you, she lost. The athlete in this ring right now is staring you face to face, and the honest truth is you need to learn to walk before you can run. Go backstage and cry in Lord Lee's arms, because I've got a cash in to plan on.

  9. 4 people read my match in < 3 mins? :aids: wow.

  10. Or you know, they could have read the previous promos when they initally got posted.

    :adr:

    wow.

  11. could say why? It'd help. 6 now. People hate me talking about drawing but here we are 6 votes in under 5 mins.

  12. 6 votes in under 5 mins makes me question whether minds were already made up, sorry team. Didnt read the whole as they went and had minds made up - unless you had your mind made up already.

ETA: I have an uphill battle but people hate on me talking about drawing and here we are less than 10 mins in with almost half the votes that matter.

  13. Read the promos as they peeped my man. That's how I always do it.

Will say for Aids, this was a toughie. His promos were really good at delivering his points in a concise way and tbh I like that a lot more than a big essay filled with point after point. Oval has that same ability though, plus I feel like his babyface desire to win the big belt so early in his career was actually quite endearing and it gave him a unique angle for his promos, alongside the legit athlete gimmick he has going on. tbh, had Aids talked more about his disdain for Ovaldinho's penchant of bigging up his legit accolades (Like he touched upon in the second promo) I feel he could've rebuffed Oval's main appeal a lot better imo.

Even still. Mad respect for both involved. Hope another match between you two is down the line.

  14. this is why i wanted to have people post why they voted the way they did. I hate seeing 7-0 but that's life, I know what to work on now.

  15. I just didn't like the first promo from you (really liked the second one) and Oval gave two great promos in my opinion. I thought your first was a clever idea but a bit of a throwaway on someone as good as Oval and he just completely turned it back on you. Really was pulling for your vintage hail mary second promo btw.

  16. Wait for Sept then. I got my rematch.

  17. This match was better than I thought, and enjoyed it a lot.

I had to go with Luis because his promos were easier to read, with better grammar. That's just a little something. Other than that, he did take Aids down well, and didn't let up and give Aids a chance to refute. Aids' 1st promo had barely any purpose and was kind of a ramble. His second promo was good, but it was basically him complaining that Oval didn't give him an opportunity to bury him. Aids should've researched his character more, and I know he'll say that he DOES WORK and won't need to, but I'm sure if he did, he would be able to have something on him. Minuses given for breaking faykabe, as well.

However, I do see some points that Aids made, that make sense. But at the end of the day, Aids relied way too heavily on getting the win based solely off his second promo, in addition, with the lack of talking points made for a mess.

Oval had some problems as well, but they were rather miniscule. He played the face promo really well, and I enjoyed them.

I liked all 4 promos, but I saw more errors in Aidsey's promos than Oval's. May the best man win.

  18. This is the only case I wish I had gone first like I had before as champ. I relied on my 2nd promo way too heavily.

  19. Oval didn't pull anything from the start, and he made Luis extremely easy to get behind and wanna see win. Excellent character work.
