‘Lord Of The Land’ by Kevin McLeod plays as The Golden Eagle, Guernica, bursts out from behind the curtains. He hypes up the crowd from the top of the stage before making his way down the ramp, slapping the hands of out reaching fans. El Salvador goes around the ring and continues to slap the fans' hands before rolling into the ring. He then falls to his knees and points both of his hands to the sky as sparks fall from above. The Gladiator Of Lucha Libre then rises to his feet and bows towards the ramp, as his opponent has not come out yet.

Guernica retrieves a microphone from ringside and begins to speak:

‘Buen Dia, my new friends of IWT!’

Guernica gets an instant reaction from the live crowd. He indicates for them to calm down.

‘Yes, the time has finally come. You’ve been waiting for it and I’ve certainly been waiting for it. The Golden Eagle, The Gladiator Of Lucha Libre, El Salvador, I am finally back inside the squared circle, and I am bringing the same Guernica that you all know and love: Not the Guernica that lost to Jeffrey Mason and Brian Nebraska, but the Guernica that brought freedom to Next Generation Wrestling when he defeated Walter Graham!’

‘That’s what I’m brining. Somebody who wants to change every place the he goes, and by now, I am sure that everybody that is either in this arena or watching at home knows what I’m going to change in IWT!’

The Golden Eagle receives another thunderous reaction, and once again the Tijuana luchadore is forced to calm them down.

‘I’ve already spoken at length at what I want to change. Everybody backstage knows that I’m going to make this company a better one for everybody involved. For the fans, and for the people who put their bodies on the line for the fans! But yet, some other people want blood; and some others just want to win in whatever way they can. There’s a lack of honour in the way that some people fight, and I’m looking to change that.’

‘That leads me on to my first opponent in this company. I’ve not had the opportunity to meet him before now. He was not with me in Next Generation Wrestling, but that means nothing. What I do know is that his name is Ronnie S. Huxley.’

A different section of crowd cheer for Huxley, a similarly sized reaction compared to Guernica’s recent cheers.

‘As much as I’ve been unable to meet with him until now, I know quite a bit about Ronnie. You and I share a lot of uncommon characteristics; and that’s a good thing. We both fight for the important people in our lives. We both fight for the people in this arena, but you also have people important in your personal life. You fight for your daughter and your partner, in order to support them. You put your body on the line for them, and I respect you for that.’

‘I really do. I truly respect you because as much as it seems like I have a lot of success going from company to company, I’ve had some personal problems of my own. Tamara Henriquez, my little sister. She-'

Guernica pauses for a moment and takes a deep breath. He swallows down a gulp and raises the microphone once more.

‘She left me at a young age. Aged five, she died when her heart couldn’t take the pressure it was under anymore. Sometimes it seems like I took her heart into mine, because when I need the extra bit of heart and soul inside the ring, I can always find it whenever I think about her. I know how it feels thinking about them every day, Ronnie. I’m just the same as you.’

‘My father also had his problems. May 3rd, 2010. I think about that day whenever I close my eyes, because that was the day Wilfredo Romero Henriquez was sentenced to imprisonment. Wilfredo-‘

Guernica stops again and takes another breath. His hands start getting wavery and his voice starts becoming more rash and angry as he recalls his memories:

'These are the facts, Ronnie, and I know that you know that I know how you feel.’‘Wilfredo...he was my father: Another person in my life taken away from me, and another person in my life that I need to fight for if I ever want to see his face again.'

Guernica’s voice starts to clear up as he moves on to a different, less emotional topic.

‘But unfortunately, I’ve been told something by many people. I’ve been told that there is no point in being 100% alright with your opponent kicking your teeth in. I’ve been told that many times, and because of that I feel that I need to tell you something else. As much as care about your mental state, and your support for your family, both of us need to win this match’

‘Both of us are making the first baby steps into the whole new world that is IWT. We both need a win to get off on the right foot. With all of my experience, I cannot afford to lose it to you, even if I respect that you beat me fair and square. I truly want to win, and in my mind, I want it more than anybody else in the world.’

    ‘And that includes you, Ronnie.’

‘So come on out, Hux! I want to know who I am dealing with here, and I want to know if you want this opportunity more than I do! I’m giving you a chance to show me what passion and honour you really possess. So, when you’re ready, I invite you out into this ring to talk to me. Say what you want to say to me.’

    ‘Until then, I’m waiting.’

Guernica folds his arms and starts tapping his feet as he waits for his opponent, Huxley, to make his appearance.

Huxley, wearing his old army jacket, baggy cargo shorts, black ripped tights and tapped up army boots burst out the curtain at 0:16, holds up his finger indicating just wait a second and goes back in the back then Huxley returns pushing a trolley filled with all his possessions and his EX- Military Dog Tango walking perfectly next to him. He dawdles while he lip-syncs the lyrics till he gets the ring, he places his trolley at the bottom ramp; draping his jacket over it exposing his scarred and damaged body, gives Tango’s chain to a fan in the front seat and proceeds inside the ring and grabs the microphone.

Well, well, the grapevine was true. The much anticipate Ronnie S. Huxley has landed in this world of IWT. But who the fuck is Ronnie S. Huxley and the why the fuck do you people care. Have no prior experience or I’m not a part of a wrestling destiny, I’ve wasn’t trained by some once great champion and I’ve never completed for the United States.

Goes to a more serious tone and putting the microphone closer to his mouth.

I guess that last comment is a lie, I completed for the United States in the day to day DEATH GAMES overseas and that’s why you people respect and cheer for me.

    Huxley points to the crowd

If I’m going to stay in this company I’m not going to be that “heroic veteran” with the title in my right hand, American flag in my left, stereotype. I spent the 38 years of my life in a system of hate, who killed innocents for convenience and declared wars to fill an agenda and you people still respect this system. Even after I say these words you people will still salute the deaths of the million innocent Iraqis before you question it. I was a bad bad man for many years and you people just cheering me for what I did, well I take that as an insult. If you can take anything from my words take that you have the liberty to ask questions. You have the liberties to have your voice heard. So respect your liberties and use that voice to show your morals and not the words society pushes down your throat.

    The crowd begins to boo

So NEVER EVER just see me as the man who served 20 years. See me as a man of persistence. The man of persistence because regardless of what I do or what happens to me I will be back on my feet. I’ve been stabbed 5 times; I’m still on my feet, I’ve been shot 15 times; I’m still on my feet, I fought in 3 different campaigns; Guess what I’m still on my feet, I’ve survived a C4 explosion; I’m still on my feet, put in military prison; Yeah I’m still on my feet, 2 years of heroin addiction; Still on my feet, had a golf ball sized tumor pulled out my head; still on my feet, a restraining order from the two people who gives me the will to fight; you better bet I’m still on my feet and now I stand here in this ring 45 years old, with my feet fucking cemented to the ground.

Parts of the crowd begins to cheer again

    Huxley stares at Guernica

So Guernica, I heard what you were saying and Guernica but let’s make this crystal clear, you are the one with the opportunity; Today I announce my open challenge to the IWT community. The challenge requires you to put Ronnie S. Huxley 6 feet under.

    In an aggressive tone.

Something cancer, drug addiction, mental illness, guns, knives, bombs, FR Yugoslavia, the Taliban, the Islamic State, the US military and the US society failed to do.

Huxley laughs walks to Guernica and goes face to face.

Guernica, I understand you have had your fair share of issues but we are two very different people. We both fight for people we love, we both have had family issues, personal issues, we both put blood sweat and tears into breaking it into this industry and both of us will put our life on the line to fulfil the goals we set and putting this match aside, Guernica I wish you luck in IWT and I will be in your corner whenever you need. But regardless we are still very, very, very different people.

Huxley puts his hand on the back of Guernica and pulls him close putting his forehead touching his forehead.

So Guernica, I’m giving you the opportunity to make a giant impression in this company, the opportunity to prove I’m not immortal. The only way you can you will be able to complete my challenge is if you share the same amount of persistence as Ronnie S. Huxley. So it’s up to you Guernica do you have what it takes to fulfil my death wish.

Huxley kisses the forehead of Guernica, hands the microphone to him and goes to the corner of the ring and sits on the middle turnbuckle.

  4. Guernica takes a few steps backwards, into the opposite corner to Huxley. The Golden Eagle wipes the saliva and sweat from Ronnie's kiss off of his mask. Guernica stops tapping his feet and keeps eye contact with Ronnie as he starts to talk again, in a more stern voice than before:

''I must say Señor, I asked you to show me if you wanted this more than I do. You've delivered, in a fashion which I understand, but unfortunately, in a fashion that I do not agree with. That is because when I first heard about you, I thought you were the people's hero; but what have you done? You've noted that these people have supported you through all of your 'incidents', and helped you stay on your feet. But then, you try and manipulate them. At first, they show their discontent. After all, you've disrespected them simply for respecting your work with the armed forces: That's an honorary role, Señor Huxley.'

'An honorary role which had led to you protecting the people you love, and making the world a better place.'

'Tell me, Ronnie. Is that such a bad thing?'

The Ronnie S. Huxley fans and the Guernica fans started a 'Yes It Is!' - 'No It Isn't!' chanting battle. Guernica smiles from under his mask before putting it away and talking again in a serious tone.

'I mean, you can blame those experiences in the army for all of your current problems, but there is only one thing that is truly the fault for your problems. The drugs, your family, everything that happened after your service. It's because of your mentality. You think that you are indestructible, and you take risks without thinking. When it eventually works out, you decide to take it further, until the problems start piling up, and you meet something that you can't defeat'

'But don't get me wrong, Ronnie. You are a tough man, and you have gone through a severe amount of torment. However, that doesn't give you the right to tell the people what is right and what is wrong. Going back to the fans for a moment, they admire you because of your achievements. I mean, you told them to stop cheering you and they complied. However, the very second you showed your strength and your feats of defiance, they cheer. They cheer because they want to be like you.'

'And know, despite you being 'cemented to the ring', showing more of your survivalist instinct, you have asked me to put you down once and for all...'

Ronnie S. Huxley's fans start booing at the idea of losing their inspiration inside the squared circle.

'Trust me, all of you. I don't want to put him 'six feet under' as he said. I don't want to be the man who put Ronnie Huxley down. But as I've said before, I can't be 100% alright with you kicking my teeth in, simply because I respect you too much. I'm going to bring the fight to you in the same way I bring the fight to everybody else: in a fair and traditional style. I'm not going to bring out the weapons of the extreme if I do not have to. That's against every single thing that I've ever fought for in my career.'

'But as they say, a man's got to do what a man's got to do'

There is a mixed reaction from the crowd, generally boos from Huxley's fans and cheers from Guernica's fanbase.

'But before we put our body on the line and leave our hearts, souls, sweat and blood in the ring, I must say one thing. In reality, we are not as different as you think we are. Ofcourse, we are not exactly the same in any respect; but the similarities we share are too much to overlook. I don't know you're reasoning for thinking that we are really that different, but I'm sure whatever reason it is, it's just because the rest of the similarities are unclear. Maybe one day in the future, after this match, we will meet again. After all, you said that you would be in my corner whenever I needed you. Maybe, if you can fulfil your goal of getting your mind clear while you're here, I think that a second encounter between the two of us would be beneficial.'

'However, until then, we are each other's opponents. I would like to wish you the best of luck before our match, and the best of luck with your future in IWT after our match. The best man will come out on top, just like in every other fight I've been in. No obscurity, no mystery, complete clarity. There will be a clear winner, and I aim to be that person who gets the 1-2-3. So I finally say to you, Ronnie, what I say to everybody else.'

    'Adios, y'hasta la vista'

Guernica flips the microphone in his hand and holds it by the jacket, before handing it back to Ronne S. Huxley. Guernica returns to his corner and sits on the second rope and starts tapping his feet once again as he waits for Ronnie's response.

    OOC:
    Good luck, buddy.

  5. At this point, Huxley face is filled with aggression and it’s visible that he holding himself back from attacking Guernica. He takes a second to control himself and begins to pace around the ring.

You know what Guernica, all people have told since I was discharged that I need to “Get my head straight” and the fact similar words came out of your faceless mouth makes me angry, it really does. See Guernica, I’m at a point of my life where things have never been clearer. Growing up in a military fort with a drill sergeant father built the morals and beliefs I lived by for the majority of living I spent this planet. We are the good guys; they are the bad. We can do no wrong; they can do no right. That I should do what I’m told for the sake of our liberties. But after I experienced much more than the average human should ever experience them morals and belief faded. I finally thought for myself, maybe I was the bad guy, maybe we shouldn’t be fighting this war, maybe the U.S military is corrupt, maybe we don’t live in a democracy, maybe, maybe, maybe. Too many maybes, too many questions. So you know what Guernica I had no way to vent these questions as I knew I would be disowned by everyone in my life so I turned to the outlet of heroin to numb my ever growing bad karma.

Huxley stops pacing and leans back on the ring ropes.

But Guernica, after dealing with chemo and becoming straight edge after years of rehabilitation, I finally see clearly. I might live forever or I might die here tonight, what’s for sure is I’m going out, standing for what is right. I don’t only fight for my daughter, nor my pride, nor my livelihood, I fight primarily for liberty. Not the liberties of Americans, but for all of mankind. And me opposing the way the industry I spent my life in, the industry most people blindly salute without knowing why is exercising my liberties. My freedom of speech. So don’t you self-righteously say I’m just blaming my problems on the time I spent in the military.

Huxley stands in the middle of the ring and stares at Guernica.

Seeing we brought up my morals Guernica, I’ll let you know I still believe there are naturally good hearted people and naturally bad hearted people. See you Guernica, I would put you far in the good hearted section. Guernica you are a very decent human being, you drive of the motivation and positive of the crowd which outlines your heart is in the right place. You turned tragedy into success which I myself once could not do. Guernica should be the face of naturally good hearted people in IWT. But your father one the other hand, Wilfredo Romero Henriquez, well let me break it to you Guernica, he is a naturally bad-hearted person. From my research I learnt a lot Guernica, I won’t get into the nitty gritty's but I’ll summarise why I came to this conclusion, the conclusion that Wilfredo was a bad bad man. From Exodus 20:1–17, Ten Commandments are presented; let’s go through what commandments Wilfredo; who is a Christian man broke. No 4, remember the Sabbath; well Guernica isn’t true that Wilfredo committed 2 of this 5 murders on a Sunday, No.6 You shall not murder; Wilfredo is a confessed killer, so. And No. 8 You shall not steal; again Wilfredo is serving time for disobeying this commandment. And there just the ones I can find with one google search of Wilfredo Romero Henriquez.

Fans begin to boo Huxley has it observably hit close to home for Guernica and the crowd begins to chant too far.

See Guernica, as much as that spill sounds like an insult it’s actually a compliment. See know we share another similarity; you are a man of persistence as well. You are still standing on two feet after dealing with your mother telling you why daddies not coming home. But we will never be the same until you do two little but major things, Guernica I understand the mask represents your culture but Guernica, how I see it is you are not putting everything on the line to make it in this industry. When the term everything on the line is said is said, it means exactly that; everything on the line. That mask hides your true identity Guernica meaning your true identity, appearance, personal image and private life is not on the line. The second is to question the troubles in your life, don’t let them build up in your head, don’t refine your words to cater your masked image, just say exactly how you feel about what has happened in your life and your true morals. But until then I guess I’m going to have a hard time believe the words what come out your mouth.

Huxley reaches out for a handshake but pulls Guernica in for a hug.

I wish you nothing but luck Guernica and until we meet again, goodbye.

    Huxley leaves the ring.
