  3. The arena lights shut down as Artemis' entrance music begins to play.

    YOU. ARE. LIARS!

The titantron shows a visual much like a character selection screen from a video game, with a large red X through the image of Dat Kid.

Artemis saunters out onto the stage, met with a wall of boos from the crowd. Smiling to himself, he makes his way to the edge of the stage and raises a fist in the air. As the stage lights flash behind him, he shouts to the crowd, barely audible over his music:

I've only just started, and I'm not going anywhere!

He heads down the ramp to the ring, with a jog, rather than his usual walking pace. Rolling under the ring ropes, he grabs a microphone and looks back up the ramp, leaning on the ring ropes with his chest.

Okay, okay, we can cut the music, people know I'm here, Jesus.

The music suddenly fades away and the reaction of the crowd can be heard louder still in the arena.

Oh that's cute, you guys don't like me! Please, whine and complain some more, then Michael can really do nothing about it for you!

Artemis allows the crowd to quieten down before continuing.

First of all, a history lesson. I'll keep it brief.

Last week, I turned up to my first match and took out one of the top guys on the roster. I made a promise that he would be staring up at the arena ceiling and I kept that promise. I told you no lies that day, same as I'll tell you none now. Know that what I say tonight, I say with conviction because I know that I'm right. I know that I'm the best superstar in the IWT today. I know there's nobody sat in the back that's better than me.

The crowd again erupts into a drone of boos, which Artemis patiently waits out.

But then, I get backstage tonight, knowing that everyone should be showing me the respect that I've earned, and I'm faced with this...

Artemis reveals a folded up note, stuffed into the pocket of his jeans.

A note from Charles Raynor! Lovingly crafted in the finest red... is this crayon Charles?

He laughs a little at this point, before losing the note over his shoulder.

But really, bless you. I'm so proud of you Charles. You went to your first writing class at that deadbeat university of yours and you chose me as your muse! Such good taste kiddo!

Artemis begins to pace up and down the ring, still addressing up the ramp to the locker room.

You're a liar though Charlie boy! You told these people... these fools... that you're not going to be a flash in the pan like the Raynors that came before. LIAR! Deep down you know that you can't cut it here. You're a schoolboy, dressing up in daddy's clothing to see what it's like being an adult. You don't have the experience, you don't have the intelligence, you don't have the balls to make it here.

And then, ooohhhhh then, you go and tell another tall tale! You tell us all that the Cyclone Nation is on your side! LIAR! You want to know why they sent you here? Because they couldn't wait to be rid of you, and they couldn't wait to watch you fail.

Now, think it through through boy, you're in your final year of university and you're pushing for a championship before you leave. That's 365 days. 8760 hours. 525600 minutes. And you're going to spend about two of those minutes getting your arse handed to you by me.

You want to waste your precious time? Get yourself out here and face me. But you're going to regret it - I tell you no lie.

  6. A Weather Alert Appears On The IWT Arena Titantron and a robotic vioce booms over the speaker system.

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, RADAR HAS INDICATED THAT A STRONG STORM, A CYCLONE, IS APPROACHING THE IWT ARENA, HIGH WINDS AND LOW VISIBILITY ARE EXPECTED. OPPONENTS OF CHARLES RAYNOR SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE COVER.

A Roar comes from the IWT Crowd and the sounds of car keys being shaken over the heads of a handful of fans fill the arena.
(The shaking of car keys is an Iowa State football tradition)

Charles Raynor's theme music replaces the sound of the Weather Alert sirens and car keys. Charles Raynor takes the stage after the musical intro. He smiles looking around the arena as the IWT Universe accepts him. He struts down the ramp, microphone in hand, owning the moment. He steps into the ring and takes a look at his opponent before climbing the turnbuckle to survey the IWT Universe. He throws his hands up to another roar from the IWT Arena before his theme music fades away and faces Artemis.

Did you hear all that? The roar of the crowd, the sound of the keys? That was the Cyclone Nation that you say isn't on my side. I'll be honest I wasn't sure of the reaction I was going to get tonight. One could say that my presence here in IWT is slightly controversial considering the infamous connotations that come with my background. But now that the prologue of Charles Raynor is over and I'm standing in an IWT ring, I can finally thank the IWT Universe for accepting me tonight.
Tonight is the conception of the RAYNOR Nation.

Raynor takes a moment for the crowd to cheer and applaud and he grins feeling the affection.

I have to thank Artemis too however. Because If I wasn't coming out to face someone that the IWT Universe appalls this much I might not have gotten this reception tonight. Furthermore I thank you for being the one to answer my open challenge. You said I don't have to balls to make it here. But lets be honest Artemis we BOTH had the balls to accept any and all challengers. The way you speak about yourself, you go as far to say you're the best damn wrestler in this whole company, anyone that has the courage to step in the ring with you would have some pretty big balls right? You're even coming off a big win over Dat Kid, a legend for sure, a guy been here longer then nearly anyone. But, I wonder Artemis, you've beaten a guy that's accomplished just about all he can here in IWT. I'm interested to see how you'll do against someone that's hungry, someone that's trying to prove something. Someone like me that's grinding, busting their ass, someone who will fight ANYONE that steps up to the plate.
You say I don't have the experience to cut it here either, which is funny coming from a guy that just had his first match in IWT, well I don't think you have the experience being in the ring with someone has motivated as I am.

You can beat up has-beens and deadbeats and put yourself on a pedestal as much as you want but until you take down someone in their prime or hold some gold, myself and i'm sure the IWT Universe will allow you to put yourself in the conversation as one of the best superstars here. Artemis, I know you don't give a damn about any of these people and that's perfectly okay to walk to the beat of your own drum. However, I wonder what drives you to be the best. I'm out here fighting for the Cyclone Nation, I'm out here fighting for the
RAYNOR nation, I'm out here trying to make the Raynor name great again, i'm out here as a student of the sport trying to become one of the sports best. So what are YOU out here for Artemis? It's sure as hell not for these fans. It's sure as hell not to prove you're the best because according to yourself, you already are. So when we step into the ring to fight and you're standing in front of someone that has everything to prove, representing all these people, and then there's me standing in front of someone with no motivation, nobody to fight for, with apparently nothing to prove, I feel that the ball is in my court.

Charles Raynor lowers his microphone to his side and leans against the ropes. He looks at Artemis anticipating his response.

  7. Artemis looks around at the crowd and scoffs.

Christ, you're an idiot. These sheep aren't here for you! The only reason they even join in with your entrance is because they like the sound of the keys. Like dogs. You honestly expect me to believe that anyone would celebrate the arrival of you? A boy whose family name is already trodden into the mud before he's had the opportunity to ruin it even more? You're delusional.
What am I driven by? I'm driven by the falsehoods, of you and everyone else back there.

He points up the ramp towards the backstage area.

It's a shame I need to keep repeating myself to you - you must be struggling in your first day on the job, we've all been there.

Artemis wraps an arm around Raynor's shoulder.

Allow me to offer you some advice Charlie. When a grown up is talking to you, you need to listen to them. That will mean you don't get your head kicked in quite as often.

To answer your other point; stepping into the ring with me doesn't give you balls kiddo, it makes you an idiot. A certifiable, inexcusable idiot. I don't know if it's just delusion from years of having to live as a Raynor, or if it's going through university as bottom of the class, desperately grabbing at coat-tails to pull yourself into a promotion, but you seem to have a far higher opinion of yourself than anyone else has of you.

So what am I here for? Simple. I'm here to take everyone out... One. By. One. And you made the list on your first day - nice job boy.

Artemis moves to his corner and relaxes on the turnbuckle.

Now, you have one final chance to get the fuck out of my way...

He drops his microphone and knocks it out of the ring.

  8. Charles Raynor looks slightly surprised at Artermis's response. He raises his eyebrows and looks around at the crowd before facing Artemis one more time to speak.

You know, I'm not really sure why I expected you to show me or these fans a little bit more respect after what I said but, I guess you're a little bit more one dimensional then I originally thought. As you sit there and call me an idiot for stepping in the ring with you at first I thought you might be right. Why would someone as unproven and untested as I am step in the ring with someone as bloodthirsty as yourself. But, the more you talk the more confident I am in this fight. Lets think about why you're here in the first place. You want nothing more then to break, beat, and scare everyone in your way, that's all that motivates you to lace up your boots.
I find that animal like mentality so hypocritical as you come out here beating your chest like an ape, talking like a neanderthal, and calling everyone in this arena dogs but you're nothing more then a dog yourself.

You want to know what I find delusional? When I come out here to a crowd that cheers my name, throws their hands up as I make my entrance, applauds me as I step into the ring, and you pretend like none of it even happened. I wonder how you even know this crowd hates you if you can't tell cheers from boos. It all makes sense though. When I look into your eyes all I see is a deranged angry man fueled by hatred and an obsession for violence. Don't worry Artemis, I won't be in your way for too long because when I beat you I will move on to bigger and better things, I have a career path with realistic goals while you have your mad man's fantasy.

You won't get a rematch when you lose and your childlike behavior will get the best of you, you'll spiral downwards and downwards until your "I TELL NO LIES" gimmick becomes the punchline to the joke your career will be remembered as.

I hope i'm wrong Artemis. It actually saddens me that all I'm doing is fueling the evil fire inside you. Hopefully this fight will be your reality check and you accept this loss like the adult you think you are. Hopefully instead of just hurting you I might actually do you some good by giving you the help you need to the see world as it actually is. Because Artemis, this company, the sport of professional wrestling, isn't a place for bloodthirsty brutes such as yourself any longer. As a student of the sport, I understand that your kind is nearing extinction. It's easy to be the fowl mouthed, arrogant, villain such as yourself. But, its harder to be the hero, the one people respect, and that's why we stay relevant because people respect the hustle. You however, you don't respect anything or anyone. You won't respect me when I make you tap out. You won't respect me when I go on to have a better career then you. This will be a real test of character for you Artemis. When it's all said and done go ahead and reflect on yourself. Maybe you'll understand why these people cheer for me and why they boo you. Just remember it's not about how hard you fall but how fast you pick yourself up.

Charles Raynor gives Artemis an encouraging pat on the shoulder and leaves the ring with a grin as the crowd applauds his final words.

  10. Tough one to be sure, Artie's first promo I think edged Raynor's. But at the same time Raynor's first was very good and made me get behind him as a babyface. The second set I would say went with Raynor, Artie's wasn't bad by any means but I feel he could've done more to refute Raynor's points. Trev stuck to his guns the second set and brought it all together so I'll give him my vote.

Nice match tho guys, think you two had some really good chemistry.

  11. Felt like Artemis used all his ammo in the 1st . I don't feel Raynor capitalized on the 2nd round as good as he could've, but an almost even match up.
