The crowd let out a cheer as the lights in the arena start going out. One by one, each of them turn off until the arena is pitch black. The crowd start cheering louder and louder as they wait for Guernica to come out, and eventually they let out a huge roar as Guernica’s typical monologue appears on the titantron. Today, it reads:

‘You are not your strongest kick, or your greatest achievement. You are simply your greatest weakness.’

‘Lord Of The Land’ by Kevin McLeod plays as The Golden Eagle, Guernica, bursts out from behind the curtains. He hypes up the crowd from the top of the stage before making his way down the ramp, slapping the hands of out reaching fans. El Salvador goes around the ring and continues to slap the fans' hands before rolling into the ring. He then falls to his knees and points both of his hands to the sky as sparks fall from above. The Gladiator Of Lucha Libre then rises to his feet.

Despite The NA Connection’s loss to Slate Bass and Tyson Storm, the crowd seem to be in better form than ever before. Their constant cheering drowns out any other noise in the arena. They finally begin to quiet down as Guernica raises a single finger to his mouth. The sudden change from ecstatic cheering to complete silence shows Guernica’s power over the audience. Guernica raises his microphone and says, with everybody else in the arena shouting out with him:

‘Buen Dia, my friends and family of I-W-T!’

The crowd let out another massive cheer of approval to Guernica’s typical opening.

‘I welcome all of you; but unfortunately my welcome is going to be cut short today. That’s because before I continue, I need to address something regarding Leo Taylor and I. Yes, we did lose to Slate Bass and Tyson Storm on VICE, and yes, for now at least, I’m being returned to single competition.’

The crowd show their disapproval (in the form of loud booing) that The North American Connection’s run was so short lived.

‘Now, now. It’s not the end of the road for Leo and I. We will be back better than ever in time, but after that loss to Dublin’ The Funk, we both agreed that we needed to split off for a while before we went back for the tag team titles.’

‘But, my ultimate goal: being remembered, can still be achieved. That’s why I’m here today, fighting to become the #1 Contender for James Dragon’s Intercontinental Title.’

‘I don’t have any business with The Bullad Club. However, I want that Intercontinental Championship, and if I have to fight every member of that faction in order to be remembered, then so be it.' That's what it's going to take for me to become champion.'

‘But before that happens, I have to step into the ring with two other men in order to earn my place in a match with Dragon. Those two men are Chris Kaizer and Mark Knight.’

The crowd start booing again, not happy that these two men are facing Guernica.

‘In some way, Mark Knight is a lot like myself. He too fell just short of glory when he and his partner LaVonte lost to the winners of the tournament, Virtue.’

‘But when talking about Señor Knight, there is no point in ignoring the pachyderm in the room. Mark Knight stands six feet, six inches tall. I stand at five feet, nine inches tall. To some, this may seem like a big thing. If you will, it’s a similar situation to ‘David Versus Goliath’.’

‘However, this isn’t a big thing to me.’

‘I’ve been doing this for long enough to know that, despite what some others things, size does not matter. When you’ve been training all your life and faced a large variety of opponents, you learn not to judge somebody by their height or the strength of their punch. The one key attribute you need to fight is ‘speed’. Sometimes your slow, methodical pace works for you, Señor.’

‘Tonight, however, it will be your downfall.’

‘If you want me to think that you aren’t just another giant powerhouse, you’re going to have to prove it to me in the ring. Adapt, try and take me by surprise. I’m expecting the calculated, patient Knight, so give me something else.’

‘I will admit, there’s something about you which isn’t quite normal; but I’m not going to let it affect me. If you want me to be scared, you need to remember one thing: I’m Guernica, The Golden Eagle! The Gladiator Of Lucha Libre! I do not run! I fight, because there’s a lion heart beating inside of me, ready to leap out of my chest. I just need to let it out, and with one roar, you’ll be gone.’

    ‘Just. Like. That.’

The crowd cheer at Guernica’s intense passion in the last few lines. He takes a moment to calm himself down before speaking again, changing to a new topic in a slower tone:

‘Moving on, my other opponent tonight is Chris Kaizer. He did not take part in the tag team tournament, but instead you took the spotlight at IWT Anarchy by defeating Chris Young. You also went toe-to-toe with Scott Fargo, losing by the slightest of margins.’

‘There are lots of things I could say to you, both positive and negative. But what’s the point? You don’t care if anybody respects you, and you don’t care if anybody hates your guts. You fully believe in yourself, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. However, it’s how you channel that belief which puts me off you.’

‘You seem to think you’re entitled to be up with the best in IWT, simply because you ‘think’ you are good enough. You may have been close to Scott Fargo, but that loss to him is why you’re here fighting Mark and I. You are no longer at the top. You are now fighting for The Intercontinental Title. It’s a whole new game.’

‘I’m sure you are not going to listen to me. You’ve found a new war game called Denial. You want to believe that you’re better, and you won’t let anybody tell you otherwise. So here’s how to win this game. If you can prove yourself, by defeating Mark and I, and move on to defeat James Dragon, you win. You’ve proved yourself.’

‘But you need to beat us. I’m not willing to let that happen. Tonight isn’t going to be the night when you win this war game’

‘And Señor Dragon, once I’ve climbed up the ladder and face you, be ready.’

‘The Golden Eagle is eyeing his prey.’

Guernica heads into his corner and sits on the second rope, waiting for a response.

  3. I need to change that tbf but yeah we all pretty much turned at Anarchy.
  4. A bald, chubby man charges down to the ring while Guernica awaits his opponent. He runs to the ring announcer and whispers something to him. The ring announcer nods and stands up.

Announcer: I've just been informed that Mark Knight is physically unable to compete, tonight. Therefore, this match is now a One-on-One match!

Announcer sits back down as the crowd groans and boos, but quickly calms down.

  5. Kaizer's music hits to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He quickly makes his way onto the stage, he pauses on the top of the ramp. Kaizer raises his arm and starts to make his way down to the ring. He circles the ring while looking Guernica. Kaizer climbs the steps and walks on the apron, never taking his sights off Guernica. He enters through the second rope and asks for a mic from ringside.

My first ever IWT Vice, what an event. Do you want to be remembered Guernica? Well congrats, you are going to be remembered as the man who faced Chris Kaizer in his IWT Vice debut. And you don't even have to share the spotlight with Mark Knight now. It disappoints me a little that he couldn't be here, I would have loved to face both of you. But I guess I have to settle for just you.

Apparently, me and the Bullad Club are destined for each other, first I face Scott Fargo and now I have the chance to face James Dragon. I can already hear it now, "How Can Kaizer Beat Dragon If He Didn't Even Beat Fargo"?! Scott Fargo will be the first man to tell you that his victory over me wasn't easy. Some may say it was a pyrrhic victory, others armchair analysis may say I lost that match by a large margin. Whatever your opinion may be, it doesn't change the fact that I lost. Fair and square, and I'll give Scott Fargo that, he beat me. I know why I lost, I'm not in denial of that. I lost because I expected myself to come back and do the same old routine as before. I expected IWT, and by association the competitors in IWT to be the same. And that just isn't true.

I see it every day, I see it every match. People from my day lose bout after bout to these newcomers. Because they refuse to adapt, they refuse to change. They deny the fact that they aren't as good as they once thought they were. I won't join them in that denial. I'm not going to act like I can just walk out here and do what I did a year ago. No, because what I did a year ago won't win me a match in 2016. I lost at Summerslam because I was doing the same old thing. I was cocky, I mean I still am, but I'm not ignorantly cocky. I saw it just recently at IWT Anarchy, right in the main event. Aids Johnson, the same old drunken Aids Johnson. Boy did he think he could get away with being the same shit faced guy he always has been, little does he know that doesn't fly anymore. You can't half-ass it in IWT anymore, not with the type of people we have nowadays.

Kaizer lowers the mic and rubs his face a bit before speaking once again

IWT is changing rapidly, and I need to change with it. Or else I'll fall into that trap that many have before me, a trap of irrelevancy while they hang onto whatever past accomplishments they may have.

This isn't a wargame, it's neither a war or a game. I heard it for the past month how Chris Young was going to put me through war, ya know what happened? I kicked his ass at IWT Anarchy. And I'm capable of doing the same to you, "Golden Eagle". I'm not here to play your little games either where you give me the objectives to win. No, I'm here to simply beat you. Just so I can move on to James Dragon. I don't need to prove myself to you by fulfilling your goals for me, who do you think you are? You aren't the judge when it comes to "proving yourself". Nah, you aren't even on the jury.

You may have beaten Chrisitan at Summerslam, but it all ties right back to what I was talking about before. He thought he could come back and do the same old, same old. It didn't work, he lost. If you think you are going to be able to do the same thing tonight you are sorely mistaken. He was in denial of the current state of IWT. That cost him that match. And you benefited off of that, you had a huge win under your buckle. Granted you took that victory and wasted the momentum. I'm not going to let you benefit off of me, not tonight. I'm not going to let you take this win and walk into Dragon Rising as #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title.

Kaizer looks around a bit, before walking back and forth

Christian might have, Dat Kid might have, Aids Johnson might have....but Chris Kaizer won't. They were in denial. I'm not in denial, Guernica. No, because...

    Kaizer has awoken.

Kaizer smirks before lowering his mic and backing into a corner and leaning against the turnbuckle

  6. Guernica stands up from the second rope. He walks to the centre of the ring, keeping steady eye contact with Kaizer as he raises his microphone and begins to speak once more:

'Kaizer, I must ask. Do you know who I am?'

    The crowd pop.

'I mean, obviously you know my name Señor, and you know what I am called by others, but do you know what lies underneath this mask? Let me tell you. because I don't think you quite understand. You hear so much about me: you hear that I defeated Christian, you hear that I have power inside of me which far outweighs my physical strength; so why is it that you come out here today and treat me like a stepping stone? Like a crystal stair, the path to your so called 'destiny' to face James Dragon at Dragon Rising, that's how you treat me. There's an obvious lack of respect in you...'

'...and as you know, I'm a man all about respect.'

'You may not care. To be perfectly honest, you probably don't; but bear this in mind when the bell rings tonight: many have underestimated me and paid the price. Christian thought that I was just an unlucky chico, thrown into his ring at the last minute. Louie Aldo tried to make a mockery of me, making a joke. He paid the price. Slate Bass and Tyson Storm went into the ring with me with a glitch in their system and, in the long run anyways, they paid the price.'

'And now you walk down this beaten road of treating my like just any other person. I'm not a stepping stone. I'm not a stair on your crystal staircase. I'm the hole in the floor, and the deep in the shallow. I'm the trap that so many have fallen into in the past. Watch your step, because with Mark Knight now, rather unfortunately, out of the equation, our chances are now higher. All of our time and energy can be focused on each other, and that's where I excel. The one on one situation.'

'The similarities I see between you and others, is like a mirror image. You say that you're destined to face James Dragon for The Intercontinental Championship at Dragon Rising, just because of a one time encounter with Scott Fargo. You say that you can't hang onto your past achievements, even though you cling onto that close call with Scott Fargo. You say that you can't 'half-arse' it here in IWT, yet you are talking about your destiny of facing Dragon while leaving out a crucial piece of the equation: me.'

The fans eagerly anticipate what Guernica has to say as he begins pacing diagonally across the ring, keeping Kaizer isolated in his corner while maintaining a stern stare into Kaizer's eyes.

'You don't think I'm in a position to judge, but here's the tale of the tape. Michael has asked you and I to face each other for a shot at James Dragon's Intercontinental Championship, the winner takes all. If you lose to me, then you're a loser in the eyes of Micahel, James Dragon, and most people in IWT. In my eyes, it means you aren't good enough to earn the shot at The Intercontinental Championship. That makes me your judge, and that makes you my judge. That's how it is, whether you like it or not. If you don't beat me, you haven't proven yourself in the eyes of IWT nor myself. We're all in the same court, we are each other's opposition. The winner gets to make the sentence. My sentence when I win: you haven't proved yourself.'

    'Guilty as charged.'

The crowd let out another pop as Guernica starts speaking with increased intensity and pacing with greater haste.

'Christian did not lose to me because he wasn't ready for the new IWT. I made the same point when I faced him, I thought he wasn't up for the changing landscape of IWT. However, I will admit, I was wrong. He was ready for that. Christian lost to me because he thought he was above me, just like you think you are right now.'

'And this war game I keep talking about? It's real. It's in this ring and you don't even know it. Everything I say is met with Denial. Denial. Denial. Denial. You think that there is no war game, but unfortunately for you, there is. I've rolled the dice, you just haven't taken your turn yet. I know when you'll take that turn: when you begin to accept. Whether that be after the match tonight, after a further match with a member of The Bullad Club, or some time in future, you have to play the game. You have to finish, because no game lasts forever.'

'If you think my momentum has stopped after that Tag Team Tournament, then once again, you have thought wrong. I was tripped up, and now I'm regaining my balance. Tonight, I'm going to power on through at top speed; rocketing my way to James Dragon. There's no ignoring the fact that I lost, but here's another fact: I can right that wrong, by winning tonight.'

'So Kaizer, you might have awoken now, but tonight I'm going to do just what Scott Fargo did to you.'

'I'm going to put you to sleep.'

    'Adios, y'hasta la vista.'

Guernica stops pacing and stays in the centre of the ring, letting his hand slowly lower from his mouth before releasing his grip on the microphone, letting it drop to the canvas. The crowd let out a huge reaction. Guernica walks backwards towards his corner, keeping his eyes on Kazier even as he steps onto the first rope and then the second rope, before stepping onto the top rope. Still keeping eye contact with his opponent, Guernica raises his hands tot he sky in typical Guernica fashion, getting one more huge reaction from the audience, before he lowers his hands and waits for Kaizer's response.

  7. @TheTNHMaster - You have until 3 PM (central) time to get a promo out.
  8. Kaizer looks at the crowd before looking back at Guernica

You have your way with words, I'll give you that. But that's about all I can give you. If you truly want to talk about denial, we can talk about denial. The only denial I see here right now is in you. You like to walk around acting like you are a small man, with the mindset and power of 1000 men. Ya know, we're of the same stature. I've done far more with it then you could ever dream. You want to talk about beating Christian as well, I did the same thing. I beat him at the biggeat stage in this business for the World Heavyweight Champion.

You beat him in the twilight of his career. Granted I have one inch on you, that may not have the biggest advantage. But I think we've seen in IWT lately just how big 1 inch, 1 move, 1 second, 1 word can be. It can make the difference between becoming a champion or opening PPVs with no names.

Kaizer begins walking out of his corner towards Guernica

I have nothing to prove to you. My last opponent thought I had to prove something to him as well. Everyone likes to think I have to prove why I was thrown into the main event of Summerslam. I have nothing to prove to you, to these fans, or even my self. I know what I'm capable of, I know my strengths and weakness. I know why Micheal picked me to face Scott Fargo, and I know why he picked me to face you tonight. I know why he wants me to challenge for the Intercontinental Title. Not only is it because I draw, bro. It's because Micheal knows what I'm capable of. I showed him the night I made my returned. And I guess I need to show you as well

You wanna dress up as a judge, so be it. I'll be the executioner. It's time someone clipped the Golden Eagle so he comes crashing back down to Earth.

  11. Opinions (open)
The first round was really close for me. TNH did strongly in his promo, showing a lot of Chris' desires and hunger to be Champion. As for Guernica, I know what to expect, Dylan did well.

Second round, Guernica took it for me. Since you were rushed a bit, TNH, you didn't come up with a promo that matched Dylan's. You had a few counter points and I liked the final line but the points weren't as strong and I'm going with Dylan.

But I raise my glass to ya guys.

  12. Yeah, all respect to Dylan. Very good promos and he can work the face gimmick really well. No excuses on my part, I just wasn't feeling this match and didn't have a direction.
  13. Here's your winner...and NEW #1 Contender for the IWT Intercontinental Championship...GUERNICA!
