    UPDATE :

WWE legend Chyna -- real name Joanie Laurer -- has died ... and officials are investigating as a possible overdose, TMZ Sports has learned.

We've learned she was in her apartment in Redondo Beach, CA ... south of L.A. -- and police got the call around 7:30 PM. Our law enforcement sources say she had not been seen or heard from for a few days. A friend went to check on her today and found her unresponsive in the bedroom of her home and made the call to police.

Officers are on scene right now. We're told they are investigating as a possible overdose, due mainly to her history with drugs. Prescription bottles were found in the home, but there were no illegal drugs ... according to our sources.
Cops say there are no signs of foul play.

    Chyna was 46-years-old.

A statement was posted to Chyna's official Twitter account confirming the death ... saying, "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero."

"She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

Laurer was discovered Wednesday evening according to ProWrestlingSheet.com.

Chyna was a game changer during her stint with the WWE -- famously teaming up with Triple H to become one of the original members of D-Generation X. She was also the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble.

Chyna went on to pose for Playboy before transitioning to reality TV. She appeared on "The Surreal Life" in 2005.
Later, Chyna got into porn ... releasing 6 films from 2004 to 2013.

She later went to Japan to teach English.

Chyna struggled with addiction for years -- and appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" back in 2008.

She posted a video to her YouTube page earlier this week -- she looked like she was struggling.

  3. I will admit, I got into wrestling after her WWE days were over. However I HAVE seen her run thanks to the magic of the internet. This is a tragic loss and my sincerest condolences go towards her loved ones. She was a true pioneer in the wrestling industry and it's sad that she never got the recognition because of her demons and activities outside the ring. RIP Chyna

  4. She was amazing in the ring, regardless of how she was outside of it. I hope they acknowledge her now for what she did. I was never a huge fan but this is sad.

  5. Just in time for next year's HoF.

Jokes aside, she died the same day as Rick Rude. That's half of the original DX gone, on the same day no less. Damn, R.I.P

Reports are saying it was a possible overdose. That makes this even sadder. I updated the thread a bit. In the video, she doesn't look good. Looks very sick. It is hard to watch.

  7. WWE has acknowledged it as well now.
All Chyna ever wanted was to be acknowledged by WWE after all that went down with Hunter and Stephanie. Shame that it only happened in regards to her passing.

    RIP

  8. Will HHH induct her to the HOF?

  9. RIP there better be a tribute from wwe raw

  10. She was one of my favorite Divas. I think HHH will put her in the game now.

  11. Chyna had an amazing legacy in the ring. First Female IC Champion, Women's Champion, participated in the Royal Rumble, and made a real impact in the industry, man or female. It is just saddening of not just her passing, but the fact she had to deal with all these demons throughout her life. From politics backstage, to her going into the adult industry, to her constant struggles with drugs and alcohol, which could have took her life.

My sincerest condolences with her family and friends, and I hope we all can look at what she did in the ring, and see her struggles as something we all can learn about.

  12. They'll show a graphic before RAW, like they usually do.

If they didn't i wouldn't be surprised since it seems like every month this is happening.

  13. That's awful. RIP

  14. I'm honestly not too surprised about Chyna's death considering the things she's been doing to herself since she left the WWE(pornagraphy, drugs, etc.). I think it's funny how she's been somewhat given the Chris Benoit treatment by the WWE because of how Triple H and Stephanie McMahon had personal problems with her in the past. Now all of the sudden, they're starting to give her attention and recognition because of her death.

Even though Chyna was never really a great wrestler in a technical skill sense or selling moves more convincingly, she was still entertaining to watch when she was a part of the original DX stable. All I can say is, it's sad to hear another former WWE wrestler's death considering that many wrestling legends have been dropping like flies in the past couple of years and may Chyna rest in peace.
