So upon making this thread, I found out that there is a thread for metal already, but it's three years old... Time to resurrect the topic of metal from the dead. Metal is my love, there isn't another genre of music that speaks to me the way it does. The energy, lyrics either telling epic tales, promoting general misanthropy or describing grisly murder scenes, the technical musicianship, I'm a fan of it all. If I'm held down and forced to choose a favorite band, it's a tie between Nile and Gojira, although black metal would be my choice for overall favorite subgenre. I could sit here and type up a big list, but to make things easier on me, think of a subgenre of metal and I probably like at least one band from it. I'm even a fan of (gasp) some of the -core subgenres (oh no, she said the dirty core word). I was a super elitist metalhead teen, but coming into my twenties I've realized there's good stuff all around metal. I'm gonna start things off with my current love, Gojira. I found out about them way back in 2007 at the suggestion of this guy I met who said I should check out this band from France, and I thought they were pretty good but over the past year I've REALLY gotten into them, enough to put them in my shared spot for favorite band. My favorite track is Vacuity from The Way of All Flesh.
