Miserable Ratings (And Quarter Hours) For Post-BFG Impact

Discussion in 'TNA iMPACT! (2011-2015)' started by Testify, Oct 20, 2012.

  1. The October 18th episode of IMPACT Wrestling had an audience of 1,248,000 viewers with a 0.99 rating. This number is significantly low compared to previous post-Bound For Glory episodes. The 2011 post-BFG episode averaged 2 million viewers while the 2010 post-BFG episode averaged 1.9 million viewers. Both of these episodes scored a 1.4 rating.

Q1: Impact opened with a 0.94 rating for Devon's promo explaining his Aces & Eights alliance, one commercial, and Hulk Hogan setting up the main event.

Q2: Impact dipped slightly to a 0.92 rating for a video package, one commercial, Hulk Hogan backstage, and Samoa Joe vs. Robbie E for TV title.

Q3: Impact dipped slightly to a show-low 0.91 rating for Tara vs. ODB, plus two full commercial breaks affecting the rating.

Q4: Impact jumped to a 1.01 rating for video packages and backstage segments, Hernandez & Chavo Guerrero vs. Gunner & Kid Kash, Jeff Hardy backstage, and Hogan talking to Sting and Bully Ray in his office. It had been three weeks since a first hour quarter-hour cracked a 1.0 rating and only the second time in the past seven weeks.

Q5: Impact increased to a 1.05 rating for Jeff Hardy's TNA title celebration interrupted by Austin Aries and one commercial. The segment was actually down compared to the top-of-the-second-hour average during the live run.

Q6: Impact dipped to a 1.01 for AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle vs. Christopher Daniels, Matt Morgan & Joey Ryan backstage with Hulk Hogan, and half of a commercial.

Q7: Impact dipped to a 0.99 rating for James Storm's victory speech interrupted by Bobby Roode and one-and-a-half commercials affecting the rating.

Q8: Impact increased to a show-high 1.06 rating for Sting vs. Devon, one mid-match commercial, and a post-match brawl to close the show.

  2. Poor ratings once again. :pity:

  3. Fans these days. :finger:

  4. Hopefully they'll be a little better next week.

  5. :urm:

Their old plans weren't working, so they moved all the titles onto ex-WWE guys, and the ratings get worse. Does this mean homegrown talent = ratings?

  6. It's not like the 'better' ratings were worth a damn either. This is just par for the course. Nothing to do with the title changes IMO. Just how TNA's ratings always work

  7. Bring back Russo?:urm::urm::urm: People obviously love car crash TV and not an actual wrestling TV.

  14. DEVON the GOAT. Book Hogan vs. Devon, TNA. That'd pop the ratings.

  15. ^ Book it.

    Top 3 and only choices.

    Hogan Vs. Devon
    Sting Vs. Devon (rematch)
    Bully Vs. Devon

  16. HOLY SHIT A DANIELS SMILEY! #MarkOutMoment

Isn't Aces and Eights car crashy enough, ridiculous enough, and conceived with so little of a plan, that it classifies as Russo-booking? And it isn't drawing shit.

Bad ratings mean the business decision of putting the belt on Hardy was a fail, but you can't just blame the ratings on that. But tbh, I haven't watched in 3 weeks outside of BFG and haven't really missed it, the storylines right now are laughably bad.

  18. Aces and Eights did draw back in August - a 1.4 rating, highest rated segment of the year. Now, not so much.

It's still not a time to blame it on Hardy. Time will tell though.

  19. Interesting that you haven't watched in 3 weeks but can still manage to draw conclusions on the storylines

The Aries turn was awesome. Bully's character and part of the Aces & eights angle is awesome, as is the Devon swerve. The Ryan/Snow angle was awesome, and now add in Morgan to this. Frankie Kazarian and Daniels get multiple segments and a match every week. Money. Roode/Storm. Man, laughably bad feud that one was.
