Yesterday’s New Japan event, The New Beginning in Niigata, sent shockwaves across the wrestling world extending its already far-reaching impact into Ring of Honor’s Honor Rising events and the 14th Anniversary pay per view extravaganza!

A number of ROH stars were on hand to compete in Nagaoka. The Young Bucks emerged victorious in the opener, teaming with Bullet Club compatriot Cody Hall to defeat Captain New Japan, Jushin Thunder Liger, and Tiger mask in six-man tag team action! reDRagon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly) continue to dominate tag team competition around the globe defeating the CHAOS combination of Gedo and Kazushi Sakuraba.

The New Beginning in Niigata continued a great week for Matt Sydal! Sydal, who is now one-half of the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, was on the winning team in an eight-man battle! While Michael Elgin was on the losing end of a tag team bout against Los Ingobernables de Japon, Dem Boys, The Briscoes, recaptured the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships with Toru Yano by defeating Bullet Club!

But, the result that altered the course of ROH’s 14th Anniversary pay per view the most was the shocking victory of Kenny Omega over Hiroshi Tanahashi to capture the vacant IWGP Intercontinental Championship! In an early sign of respect for his world-class component, “The Cleaner” dismissed his Bullet Club teammates Cody Hall and Yujiro Takahashi from ringside. Omega’s actions demonstrated that he was seeking a clean match to determine a victor.

Just when it seemed that Tanahashi would capture his second IWGP Intercontinental Championship, Hall re-emerged and distracted the referee while the YOUNG BUCKS attacked Tanahashi! Elgin would attack the Bucks and escort them backstage but the damage was already done: Omega would hit the One-Winged Angel and capture his first IWGP Intercontinental Championship!

With so many ROH stars victorious and Omega earning the biggest win of his career, Honor Rising and the 14th Anniversary pay per view have become more important! Keep it locked on for the latest information and match announcements for these huge events!
