Original finishers - Is there such a thing?

  1. Wrestling has been around for a while now. And as we know with most things in entertainment things get recycled after a certain amount of time. Be they stories, gimmicks or even finishers. Kane and Undertaker has the same finisher in the tombstone (logical since they are kayfabe brothers), Kane also shares the chokeslam with most giants in wrestling and Randy Orton is using a variant of the same finisher DDP used and that Johnny Ace invented in Japan. So is there such a thing as an original finisher in today's mainstream wrestling?

Is there a finishing move that hasn't been used in such a long time that it can now be considered original?

Is the WWE banning potentially dangerous moves like the piledriver helping to saturate the amount of finishers?

What is the perfect finisher in your opinion?

  2. Bret Hart's Sharpshooter

  3. Is not an original finisher.

  4. Riki Choshu invented the move

It is hard to create something new, you can add a variation to a move, also its hard for someone in wwe to create one due to limitations

  5. Buddy Roger's Figure Four Leg Lock

  6. Chris Hero innovated the Riveria Cloverleaf

  7. Is there a finishing move that hasn't been used in such a long time that it can now be considered original? Yep, a bearhug hasn't finished a match in years as an example.

Is the WWE banning potentially dangerous moves like the piledriver helping to saturate the amount of finishers? Yep, if you limit the pool of moves you'll get guys doing the same shit.

What is the perfect finisher in your opinion? I'm a sucker for a well hit elbow strike ala Misawa or Hero and a stiff GTS.

  8. Lou Thesz's STF

I think that indicates the OP is looking for people who still wrestle dawg.

  10. Does anyone use the iron claw anymore?

  11. Very difficult, since most guys have used everything. And yeah, banning stuff does limit the pool so makes it a bit more difficult.
