Randy Orton's Punt Kick: Another Victim of the PG Era

Discussion in 'SmackDown' started by Snowman, May 23, 2012.

  1. -WWE star Randy Orton wrote on Twitter that his punt kick has been banned due to "concussional awareness."

So, they'll going to have to find new ways to write characters off TV (good), they realize that nowadays with all the research going on, concussion storylines are disastrous PR (very good) and they don't think going out there and kayfabe-injuring people will make him a bigger star (very very good). But the Punt was a big part of the Orton character and something that I personally enjoyed when used correctly.

  3. So that's banned. A move which is easy to perform safely. But the Big Boot which is always hit under fast high pressure situations isn't? None of them should be banned but come on WWE.

  5. This. It's is SO MUCH easier performing/selling the orton punt than the brogue kick because he comes out of no where and you have to have 10x more control of the situation which is very difficult.
  6. Brogue Kick didn't make Shaemus as big as it made Orton. Which is what it's about. But yeah, this is stupid. Face Orton during PG Era is worthless. :pity:
  7. DB and Punk are still allowed to kick people in the head but not Snoreton?
  8. Way to make him even MORE boring now.
  9. No like. Wrestling must have contact to work here
  10. It's a shitty move anyway.
  11. Not the point

  13. Baseketball FTW.
  14. BASEketball is awesome.
  15. No shit.

  16. Best scene, but this clip cuts out the best line.

"I swear, you guys rip on me thirteen or fourteen more times and I'm outta here!"
  17. Unnecessary banishment. It was an interesting part of his character, a move that put people out for some time.

  19. :urm: As it states in the 1st post it's because Orton's kick supposedly gives you a concussion. Punk/Bryan's kick isn't used to give people kay-fabe concussions. :dawg:
  20. F This! :///

I mean, it's a good move! It can be sold easily, it can be done easily, and it's a trademark move of Orton.

    PR guys suck.
