  2. 9/10. Felt the Orton/Y2J segment ran too long and was completely bored by Becky/Nat. Everything else was fantastic. Owens/Zayn was definitely the match of the night.

Too bad bout them GMs tho.

  3. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn was crazy intense. Great story, and great action. Perfect formula for a Match of the Year candidate.

Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins was a great story, super pumped. Too bad it was cheapened by the damn GNS~.

8/10 - Stay away from Natalya vs. Lynch.

  4. I gave it an 8/10. Might have rated it higher but there were a few things I didn't like.

    I liked:

Bayley making her debut and the whole Bayley and Sasha Banks vs Charlotte and Dana Brooke *** It was good to see a good woman's match on a PPV again since Wrestlemania.

New Day Vs the Wyatt family *** I really didn't care much about this match but I still enjoyed it.

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens **** Easily the match of the night. This was a great match from the beginning to the end. An absolutely excellent encounter.

Rusev vs Zach Ryder **1/2 Decent match even if I didn't get into it.

Miz vs Darren Young **. Now I didn't actually like this match, but I liked Bob Backlund's antics in the match so I had to include it in the like section.

John Cena, Enzo and Cass vs the Club *** This was a fun match too. Nothing really stood out about it but I enjoyed it.

Shield Triple Threat ***1/2 I enjoyed everything about this. It told a good story and I had a mark out moment when Ambrose retained the belt. I really didn't think he would and I bet $1000 on Reigns... but I am completely fine losing the money for Ambrose to retain the belt.

    I didn't like:

Becky vs Natayla ** This was just boring.

Highlight real. This just drug on. It was boring. And Viperville?

Really, this was just an excellent PPV from beginning to end. Loved it.

  5. LOL you took that 2 minute thing WAY too seriously.. you took exactly two minutes haha
  6. I actually enjoyed the y2j Orton segment. Who know Orton had a personality. Especially the fandango and enhancment comment.

  8. Okay, everyone's had a great joke at my expense. Now that I'm not stuck trying to chat on a phone that keeps freezing and making typing difficult, let me explain what I meant. Usually, when someone else comes out to watch a match, that person(s) interferes. I ended up waiting the entire match for Stephanie to get involved (like, say, pull Ambrose off a pin or pull out the referee or something) and start a big fight amongst the GMs, which would've taken away from the match. Thankfully (to my surprise), that didn't happen. I'm also very sick of GMs/owners/authority figures being a constant on-air presence, so I was annoyed they came out at all. I was expecting constant camera cuts to them watching the match, which would've been redundant since we can guess how they feel during the match. Again, that didn't happen. In fact, the cameras cut more to the rosters watching, which did get a tad annoying. Still, the way I would've done it would be to have the GMs in the back with their respective rosters and only have the winning GMs (Shane & Daniel in this case) come out at the very end.

With all that out of the way, this was a very good show, possibly the best of the year to date. Zayn vs. Owens was an amazing match, and the triple threat was damn good, too. Heck, even Orton seemed energized to give a promo, and it was the most entertaining one I'd seen in years.

  9. While overall very predictable (almost nailed it to perfection aside from the New Day pick in my predictions thread), I’m also on board with the 8/10 of rating. I, too, thought it was a very enjoyable and entertaining show for the most part, more so given the circumstances, thus being a not really relevant PPV in the grand scheme of things. My thoughts:

    - Starting off the PPV with the women’s tag I felt was a nice touch and as it turned out, it was indeed Bayley being revealed as the mystery partner for Sasha. I still kind of feel they should have saved this moment for later on but nevertheless, it made for a good match and, as expected, Sasha Banks ended up picking up the win so her and Charlotte for the title at Summerslam will probably become official as soon as tonight.

As for Bayley, I’m guessing this was a one off thing and that she’ll be back on NXT for the time being, especially since no reference was made whatsoever by the commentary team. I mean, you would think they’d wonder what her appearing last night would mean and which brand would get her but being that nothing of that nature was ever discussed tells me that her official debut on the main roster will be left for another time in the near future.

    - Sami Zayn vs. KO was by far your MOTN and, yeah, I agree it should also be a candidate for match of the year when the time comes. I personally LOLed when KO had Zayn on a submission hold and the ref was asking Sami if he wants to quit and Owens was yelling “yes, of course he wants to quit”.

    - Though my only incorrect prediction, I guess it’s nice to see the Wyatts finally getting a big win.

-Enzo and Cass were simply gold yet again and it’s just inevitable that they square off with New Day at Summerslam and be crowned new tag team championships. Can you be any hotter than these two right now?

    - What a horrible finish in that IC title match. I knew to expect shenanigans because Miz had to retain but this was beyond rediculous....

    - I agree with both points made by our fellow members above regarding Natalya vs. Becky (indeed nothing to be invested in) and perhaps the highlight reel segment dragging a bit too long. I certainly enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong, and especially the “no enhancement needed” line that Orton dropped but sure, they could have done it all in perhaps lesser time.

    - Main event was fine and I certainly enjoyed the fact that Dean retained. Unlike many, I personally liked the fact that both commisioners and GM's were outside at ringside because they made it look like a really big deal, as was the case anyway, in regards to where the belt would land.

I also found it interesting that they had shots of the locker rooms, with almost all stars from each brand watching and routing for their respective brand and it just comes down to the point I made while ranting about the draft the other day and the fact (amongst many others) that we never got to see any reactions from the superstars on the spot. What they did last night should have been precisely the case for the most part at the draft, instead of making it feel so rushed and shitty.

  10. 8/10

Enjoyed it for the most part. I was slightly behind most of the show so once it got to the natalya match, I obviously skipped ahead some lol.

Overall good ppv and now we'll finally get to see the brand split in effect tonight.

Side note, what's being done about future ppv? Are they all going to be shared? Interpromotional matches all the time? Because summerslam is a month away from now and they'll have atleast 1 mixed match.
  11. Internet sucked throughout. Gave no fucks about the show before it started, really. Mostly fine. Owens vs Sami was very, very good. Main event was good. Laughed out loud at Cena pinning AJ Styles, that was very entertaining.
  12. JBL actually made a comment during the match that Bayley appearing on the main roster was a one time thing and she would be going back to NXT.

It seemed a bit weird that JBL and not Cole made the announcement.

  14. Best part of the show was Zayn vs Owens, easily one of my favourite matches that I wouldnt watching over and over again, great story, great competitors.

Funny how Usos were the one hoisting Dean on their shoulders while their 'family' was crawling outside the ring XD

Overall 7/10 as far as PPVs go, interesting and surprising direction with the titles.
  15. When you have the entire arena on their feet giving them a standing ovation, you know this match was special....

  16. Dude I cannot BELIEVE that the Wyatts won. I mean, this was an Undertaker/Brock Lesnar level upset, these guys had NO chance to win this match. It's like saying "The IC champion from 2008-2014 has won a match on TV!" It seriously doesn't happen. The Wyatts NEVER keep momentum for more than a week before looking like pathetic non-threats yet again. But alas, here we are, Xavier conquering his fears (which would have been a cooler story had he not done so on Smackdown) but Bray still being too much to overcome. Unbelievable, I'm still in shock. :blackshock:

It wound up being Bayley after all and she got the biggest chick pop in wrestling history! :yay: That was happy. And wow, TWO good tag team matches on the same card? Did I accidentally turn on NXT? That's unbelievable!

fast forwarded to the "important" matches due to time constraints and KO/Sami delivered HUGE and you could feel these two were out for blood, big move after big move, counter after counter as the place roared and...

Really liked the Shield triple threat as well - even if Ambrose felt like he came out lucky. Dug the Shield callbacks, Roman's insane powerbombs that look like they broke the other two in half, and Rollins's superplex/falcon arrow may be my favorite move in wrestling (even though it's too good to not pin anybody) but don't remember too much else about it except "cool stuff happened"

Can't ask for anything better, even the commentary was okay and Stephanie kept her mouth shut. Thumbs up for Battleground!

  17. I missed the first 20 minutes of the show, since it was a women's tag match i had absolutely no interest in... I'll give it 4/10..pretty boring show all around.

  18. Battleground was very good, I enjoyed it. 8/10

    - Sasha Banks & Bayley vs Charlotte & Dana Brooke was a good show opener. ***
Marked for Bayley and Sasha tapping the champ out was the right call.

    - The Wyatt Family vs The New Day was good given the time constraint. ***
Woods finally overcoming his fear and Wyatts looking like total beasts (especially Bray with his offense and his presence overall) was good to see. Also, damn Big E almost broke his freakin' neck! Loved the chaotic homestretch and The Wyatts getting the win was a pleasant surprise.

    - Rusev vs Zack Ryder was solid. **½
The match didn't outstay its welcome, it hit all the points it needed to hit and the right man won. All I can say, really. I wish RuRu had dropped Mojo post-match, though.

    - Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens was fantastic and MOTN. ****½-****¾
I'm gonna have to rewatch it, amazing stuff! Up there with Nakamura/Zayn from TakeOver. Wonderful storytelling, incredible action. And Zayn winning was an incredibly feel-good moment.

    - Natalya vs Becky Lynch was decent, but pretty mundane. Plus, Nattie won, so meh. **

    - The Miz vs Darren Young was the first thing on the show I didn't like. *½
This was not good. I mean, they worked an OK match, but I, along with everyone else found myself not caring.

    - John Cena, Enzo & Big Cass vs The Club was a good and fun match, I enjoyed it. ***¼
Everyone played their roles well and delivered a fun match. Cena hitting AA on Styles from the top rope was a nice finishing touch, as it also furthers their feud on SD, while Gallows and Anderson can do their own thing with Enzo and Cass on RAW. Loved Enzo and Cass' pre-match promos, btw.

    - The Highlight Reel segment with Y2J and Randy Orton was fine. It went a bit long for my taste, but the RKO OUTTA NOWHERE, as well as the "no enhancement needed" bit which made me LOL were worth it. I've missed you, Randy. Welcome back!

    - Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns was a very good ME. ***¾
They started out a bit slow in the first half, but thankfully kicked it up a notch in the second and delivered some pretty good stuff. And well, I'll be damned! Ambrose retained! Good call, honestly and I'm happy about it. SmackDown has long been treated as the inferior brand and they need THE champion now. But it's only going to last till SummerSlam, right? BUT WHO DOES HE FACE?! Anyways, I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts.
  19. One more note...

We had 4 authority figures around the ring and a match without an obvious winner that could easily be "dragged out"...

and we still got a main event with a clean finish. :bodallas:

We need to appreciate not seeing the things we used to complain about more often.
