Nearly 7 months after suffering a serious knee injury against then ROH World Champion Michael Elgin, “The Last Real Man” Silas Young has returned in shocking fashion!

On Friday night he returned home to the Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee and took it to young Will Ferrara. He was received like a returning conqueror. He took a moment to soak in the raucous crowd and then informed them that he should have returned in a real city like Las Vegas. Ferrara won the match, however, via disqualification when Young hit him with a low blow. The Milwaukee faithful didn’t just see Silas return, they saw a man on a mission.

Saturday Night in Chicago Ridge, IL Silas was faced with what appeared to be an impossible task. He had to wrestle not one, not two, but three other Ring of Honor superstars. These were not just any three competitors. He was up against former Triple Crown Champion ”Mr ROH” Roderick Strong, Mark Briscoe and The Kingdom's Matt Taven. Late last week, due to an injury to Matt Sydal, it was announced that the winner of this 4-way contest would receive a Proving Ground: Instant Reward opportunity against ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe.

The odds of beating 3 elite stars of ROH, then having to face the World Champion and beating him twice in the same night to become ROH World Champion are almost insurmountable. Coming off such a major knee injury you would think that the odds for Silas would be would be impossible. He came into the 4-way looking sharp and hungry with no signs of a layoff. To the shock of many he defeated Mark Briscoe for the win. Could this be a magical night for Silas?

In Proving Ground: Instant Reward one faces off against a champion. If one defeats the champion he receives an automatic title shot on the spot. Keep in mind, Jay Briscoe has not been pinned or forced to submit in over 2 years. These odds did not seem to bother Silas. He came in guns blazing and brought everything he had. Who would realistically think with 7 months off, that he could come back and defeat four top level stars and then defeat the undefeatable? Silas Young thought so!

While he did not defeat Jay Briscoe, the message was clear: Silas Young is back and back with a vengeance! He did not look like the Silas of old. He looked like a new man motivated to be the very best. He looked like he came to show the world it was his time and he came very close to that. Silas Young has a destiny and that that destiny is the Ring of Honor World Championship.
