Bangor City's Les Davies has been included on a 32-man list of players nominated for Uefa's best player in Europe award.
The 27-year-old is on a list which also includes Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The long-list was drawn up by one selected journalist from each Uefa member country voting for their five best players.
A single nomination, believed to be from a Welsh journalist, was enough to earn Davies's place.
"I wouldn't have expected this in a million years," said Davies.
The list also includes 13 Premier League players, with five from champions Manchester City.
Davies joined Bangor City from Glantraeth in 2003 and spent a spell at Porthmadog before returning to Bangor in June 2007.
The winger is a former Welsh under-21 international and has also represented Wales' semi-professional under-23 side.
The Uefa award ceremony will take place on 30 August in Monaco.

  2. Good for him. Ought to be a feel good moment.

  3. Has to be that Bangor City scrub

  4. It is a pretty cool story tbf, lol. Imagine being a player on that level being spoken in the same breath of Xavi and names of similar standard. Even if it is for an award lol.

  5. Did I win? What's the story on it? Refuse to open the spoiler.

  6. He got nominated for Europe's best player by a welsh journalist so is now in the last 32 lol.

  7. Lol how can that journalist just decide who's in it though?

That's straight from the article lol.

  9. Lmao wow... It's good for the player but Jessuussss

  10. If he got nominated then surely Jordan Rhodes should have made the list? I reckon he'd go close to winning it ahead of Messi :D

  11. Biggest Rhodes mark I've ever met.

  12. It's really going to be interesting to see if he can step up tbh, the boy can finish but he doesn't have a great deal of pace / power from what I've seen.

  13. Sorry, I was too busy :fap:

Agreed 100%, other than being in the right place at the right time, he has a lot to do, he isn't strong enough to hold people off and he isn't the quickest, but he can break through though.

Personally I think he needs a season in the Championship to prove he can do it at a higher level, before jumping straight up to the premiership where he might not cope as well.
