The old adage “Be careful what you wish for or you just might get it,” is one that speaks to unintended consequences. Nobody may find out about unintended consequences quicker than the teams competing in the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship match at Final Battle, the defending champions The Kingdom and their challengers War Machine!

In the deepest tag team division in ROH history, the First Lady of ROH Maria Kanellis led Mike Bennett and Matt Taven to tag team immortality in San Antonio, TX when they became champions for the first time at All Star Extravaganza. But as the champs are finding out, it may be easier to get to the top of the mountain than to stay there.

At every turn, The Kingdom have been challenged by the very best tag teams in the world. Their defenses get no easier because in Philadelphia at Final Battle, they meet the hulking, brooding War Machine! “War Beard” Hanson and Ray Rowe have had their eyes set on tag team gold since forming in 2014 and have left a trail of bodies on their path of dominance in 2015.

Hanson and Rowe’s list of victims in 2015 include reDRagon, House of Truth, The Decade, ACH & Sydal, and, yes, in August in Philadelphia, The Kingdom. But while War Machine have had no problems finding competition and the Kingdom have been fighting champions, the targets on their grow exponentially when the gold is around their waist.

In addition to the teams above, ANX, the Briscoes, and the Young Bucks, three of the best teams in the world, will be competing at Final Battle to earn the right to face either the Kingdom or War Machine in the first tag team title defense following ROH’s seminal event. Add to that group the former champs, the Addiction, who were never pinned to lose their titles, Silas Young and the Beer City Bruiser, and the internationally-known RPG Vice and suddenly, holding the tag team championships may not look as appealing. Survive one challenge and move to the next, getting each team's best every night.

While winning the ROH World Tag Team Championship match at Final Battle may seem like a blessing, for the winners, it may be a curse. And for the Kingdom and War Machine, being on the top of the mountain may be easier than finding a way to stay there.
