Our Heroes Rock on Kickstarter

We mostly talk about him because he’s a very good wrestler and a borderline inappropriate goofball, but those aren’t the only reasons we love Big E.

By all accounts, E (real name Ettore Ewen) is a good man who’s trying to make the world a better place. We’ve gotten evidence of it in the way his friends interact with him and he honors his friends. And we’ve heard it as he’s used his voice on social justice issues in the locker room, and on screen.

Now, he’s part of a project that combines all those things (okay, hopefully not too much of the “borderline inappropriateness”) - and you can help.

Are you ready to #KickstartHistory with @TheRealDavenpoe @WWEBigE and myself?

It begins on 2/22/21 #BlackHistoryMonth Our Heroes Rock!

— Andreas Hale (@AndreasHale) February 20, 2021

Along with writer Andreas Hale and designer Jonathan Davenport, E is working on an animated series called Our Heroes Rock. The show will mix sci-fi and hip hop concepts to bring figures from Black history to life for kids. Ettore will voice the robot tour guide E-Tour (get it?!?!) of “the Smithsonian if it was designed by Tony Stark.” The exhibits come to life to immerse visitors and the audience in the stories of heroes big and small from throughout black history, told “through rhythm and rhyme.”

The pilot episode, which will be produced by animation studio Something’s Awry and narrated by Grammy-nominated hip hop artist Rapsody, focuses on Ruby Bridges, the first African-American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis in November 1960.

E, Davenport and Hale are crowdfunding the pilot. Their enthusiasm for the project is palpable:
