With the debut of a brand new stage, a new era in production began for Ring of Honor at our “Winter Warriors” Tour stop this past weekend. In addition, a beefed-up set of lights surrounded the ring, enveloping the ringside area with bright, brilliant light. But it was the stars inside the ring that shined the brightest on this history-making night. Here are my thoughts from Nashville.

Ring of Honor features the deepest, most competitive tag team division in all of Professional Wrestling and Saturday featured a Tag Team Gauntlet. While you will see this episode on TV in a few weeks, trust me when I say that the Young Bucks, Roppongi Vice and reDRagon will all prove why they are redefining tag team wrestling

Sitting on top of the division is War Machine and they have ANX to deal with at the 14th Anniversary. Not far behind lurk the “Baddest Tag Team on the Planet”, the Briscoes, ACH and Matt Sydal and the Addiction. The division is so competitive that one loss can affect a team’s status as contenders. This forces each team to step out of any comfort zone and continue to innovate and improve.

Talking with Hanson on Saturday, he told me that he has made some dietary changes and is looking to be about 20-25 pounds lighter since the first of the year by the time he gets to Las Vegas. I chatted with Rowe in the airport Sunday morning and we talked about the anti-drug speeches he has been doing in Texas as of late, motivating him more than ever. Congratulations to War Machine for all of their successes.

Definitely don’t plan to spoil the “Top Prospect Tournament” but I will say that this year’s field featured eight finalists that had all attended ROH Tryout Camps and all eight stood out. We know Donovan Dijak won last year but fellow participants Dalton Castle, Will Ferrara and the Beer City Bruiser are main roster stars now as well. I predict there will be several more main roster inhabitants from this year’s field.

When I asked the Young Bucks about Kenny Omega and what the plan is for the 14th Anniversary, there was an incredible buzz in the Municipal Auditorium. “The Cleaner” has already made an impression on ROH fans, as have Matt and Nick Jackson. These three elite Bullet Club stars will look to dominate ACH, Matt Sydal and KUSHIDA in a Six-Man Tag Team match on Friday February 26, live on Pay-per-View from Las Vegas.

If you are a fan of the Women of Honor division, you’ll get to see great matches taped in Nashville very soon. It’s the most eclectic group of women I’ve ever seen in the squared circle and there is a great deal of competition within the division. Women of Honor matches were voiced by my pal, Nigel McGuinness who I love working with and Ian Riccaboni, who continues to improve on Play-by-Play. Ian is a good guy who blushes easily whenever Scarlett Bordeaux compliments him.

When the episode airs, please go out of your way to watch Matt Sydal vs Adam Cole.

Jay Lethal’s dominant win over AJ Styles at Final Battle and his successful title defense in front of 40,000 fans against Michael Elgin at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in Tokyo showed that Lethal is the greatest champion in Professional Wrestling today. But he will be sternly tested at the 14th Anniversary in a Triple Threat match against Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly.

If Lethal finds a way to maintain control of the gold, who will be next for Lethal? If Kyle gets his way, who will be first for O’Reilly? If Adam Cole is victorious at the 14th Anniversary, what hope does Kyle have in his future? A physical and emotional toll will be taken on all three men on Friday February 26, live on Pay-Per-View.

Up next, Honor Rising from Korakuen Hall next weekend!
