One issue All Elite Wrestling knew it might encounter airing their weekly show on TNT was a conflict with one of the network’s bigger partners - namely Major League Baseball, NCAA basketball, and the National Basketball Association.
Because both of MLB’s National League Divisional Series went to a deciding fifth game, there’s a chance AEW could run into that issue tonight (Weds., Oct. 9) for the second episode of Dynamite.
The St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves started their game at 5:02 p.m. Eastern. It’s airing on TBS. First pitch in Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Washington Nationals is set for 8:37 p.m. Eastern. If the Cards/Braves game isn’t over by then, one of the games will shift to TNT until it is.
St. Louis has taken a big early lead, which might be a bad sign. Not only did the first inning last about 45 minutes, but lopsided games can be slower as the team trying to come from behind pulls out all the stops. Even in tighter contests through the first four games of the series, three of the Cardinals & Braves’ games have lasted longer than three-and-a-half hours.
But fear not! While it will mess with ratings data, AEW and Turner Sports won’t leave fans high and dry. Dynamite is set to air on both TNT and Tru TV tonight, so you’ll be able to see the entire show even if baseball takes over TNT for some of wrestling’s normal 8 - 10 p.m. timeslot.
And, TNT uploaded the premiere to their app for free last week, so even if you can’t find Tru TV on you channel guide, they’ve got you covered.
As will we! In the live blog here.
