NXT looks to be following the same model they used with this year’s men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic when it come to doling out information about the first ever women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

After last week’s announcement there would be a women’s tourney this year, on Jan. 13 we learned of four teams in the field, and found out about the first first-round match. That still leaves us with lots of questions like, how many entrants there will be, and what the bracket looks like. Other than a Dusty Cup, we also don’t know what the winner of this tournament gets. The men earn a NXT Tag title shot. Will the ladies get to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag belts?

While we wonder about that, say hello to the two babyface teams we know of. First we have Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon. These WarGames teammates have come together specifically to deal with Candice LeRae & her protege Indi Hartwell, even though we don’t know when or even if they’ll face each other in the Dusty...

Then we have long-time partners Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter...

This version of C & C Wrestle Factory will kick off the tournament next Weds., Jan. 20 when they face the newly-paired Toni Storm & Mercedes Martinez:

I’m guessing Mercedes & Storm’s desire for Io Shirai’s singles gold might cause them to focus on each other instead of the well-oiled machine across the ring from them, but we’ll see.

Hard to make any predictions at this point, but feel free to weigh in on who else you want to see in the field. We’ll keep you posted with any updates on the first-ever women’s Dusty Classic.
