  1. Make the threads to refresh automatically like every 5 seconds.
    See more:
  2. That would be incredibly annoying, long posts take more than 5 seconds to read, so does an entire page of posts.
  3. Press the refresh button every 5 seconds or download an extension for your browser.
  4. Wouldn't refresh the page, that means that new posts could be added while it wouldn't interrupt you.
  5. Ah, I see what you mean now.
  6. So what do you think? :emoji_slight_smile:
  7. Wouldn't it be a stress on the server having this?
  8. Not unless you got 50 people reading 1 thread.
  9. ^ yes, that's why I'd be against it.
  10. I wouldn't think so.
I guess you could try in a separate section and see how it goes.

"Thread automatically updates every 5 seconds" on the botton of every thread would make the forum to look cooler and more professional imo.
  11. But think of the future when there is, a feature people are used to and enjoy will have to be removed due to the problems it causes.
  12. WWE Live discussion threads are normally like triple figure pages, ours isn't obviously yet but having this on a day when RAW is on live for example is basically throttling our server.
  13. Yeah, it's a useless feature, I've never seen actually large and organized forums use something like this.
  14. If any of you want an example I could post it here or PM you.
  15. Pretty simple, it would basically be like a shoutbox.
  16. Check the forums.
    It isn't like a shoutbox :emoji_slight_smile:
  17. Thing is, most wrestling sites host a lot of images. Including lots of .gif images, I wouldn't want any unnecessary stress added to the server, especially on shared. Last thing we need is problems there. Would probably think about it more if there were less images and big potential threads like discussion threads. Believe it or not, wrestling forums are different from most :emoji_slight_smile:.
  18. This would be a lot less stressful on the server than people refreshing the page every few seconds, since this would be passing the raw data for only the newest replies, as opposed to having to pass entire templates and the entire thread data to the user.

I can agree that 5 seconds could be a little quick, seeing as people rarely reply in seconds. However that could be upped to about 30 seconds (to a minute) and have a manual 'load new posts' button.
  19. Perhaps. Could just keep the button there with no refreshing?
  20. 5 seconds was just an example.
I don't really know if it would stress the server though..
