  1. I've got no strings
    To hold me down
To make me fret, or make me frown
    I had strings
    But now I'm free
There are no strings on me
    Hi-ho the me-ri-o
That's the only way to go
I want the world to know
    Nothing ever worries me
    Hi-ho the me-ri-o
I'm as happy as can be
I want the world to know
    Nothing ever worries me
    I've got no strings
    So I have fun
I'm not tied up to anyone
    They've got strings
    But you can see
There are no strings on me
    Dutch puppet
    You have no strings
    Your arms is free
To love me by the Zuider Zee
    Ya, ya, ya
    If you would woo
I'd bust my strings for you
    French puppet
    You've got no strings
    Comme ci comme ca
Your savoire-faire is ooh la la!
    I've got strings
    But entre nous
I'd cut my strings for you
    Russian puppet
    Down where the Volga flows
    There's a Russian rendezvous
    Where me and Ivan go
But I'd rather go with you, hey!

  4. So many Disney movies are dark in one way or another. Think about it. It paints the picture of "happily ever after" but beneath the surface is a cold reality that teaches kids looks mean more than anything and if you can't have looks, you better have money.

  5. Disney is pretty evil. Lol

Was watching parts of The Little Mermaid the other night. Black Magick and symbolism all over the place.

  6. Oh for sure. I mean my favorite movie is the Lion King... What it teaches kids is that ugly people are evil and will do bad things to people you love... and anyone with a scar on their face must be Hitler reincarnated. lolol

That last part was a joke but for real... Walt was a sick man. People would rather look at the flowers, butterflies and rainbows than admit that. I don't plan on having kids, but if I do one day, they wont be watching Disney movies till their old enough to know what reality is.
  7. Let's be honest though, if you're really attractive or rich your life is a lot easier and a lot more doors are opened to you.
  8. That is because the way the world has allowed it to be. It has been proven that better looking women advance in careers a lot easier than average or below average women. It is a shame. As for men... you need confidence and money to mean anything, or so we are told to believe this.

I've got no strings on me :-)
  10. So what do you guys think is the alternative meaning to this song?

I think it is addressing the strings that hold every person down in their lives and breaking free and being yourself.

It also could be addressing the Illuminati's control on everyone's life and breaking free from their stranglehold.

  11. The latter :true:
  12. To me it is pretending to be happy. The strings may or may not be gone, but the pain is there and it is better to pretend to have freedom then to admit you have no freedom at all.
  13. You realize that Lion King is just the story of Hamlet but with lions? And the design of Scar and the evil hyenas is done so not because the animators/creators decided to do it like that, but it is old old old down right ancient cultural doxas. Ever since man has been able to tell stories evil and darkness has been associated with the ugly and menacing.

But one most also remember, that for every movie where Disney depicts the villain as dark and ugly, there are films and stories that also showcase the fact that good can exist even in the darkest and "ugliest" of creatures. Prime example of this is the beauty and beast. Lion King 2 is another prime example, with the male protagonist having to prove that despite looking like Scar (lion Satan) he's a good person that can be trusted.

Or the fox and hound, which showcases how society paints certain people as lesser or evil. How to friends are taught to hate each other "because it is the proper way".

  14. Sure, watching that as an adult (or older child), that is easily understandable but not as a young kid. I don't know. To me, much of what is considered to be labeled as "for kids" has too much subliminal crap in it.
  15. I must be a bad parent then lol. We watch Disney ALL THE TIME
  16. I watched the lion king for the first time at age 4 and got what it was about on the first go. Kids aren't half as dumb as we think, we just force them to be with coddling. You can spend your entire life living behind protective walls, but once those walls fall you will not know how to defend yourself/cope.

I was raised on all things Disney and will raise my kids on it as well. If they have any questions, I will answer them. Parents who don't want kids to watch certain children's programming seem afraid of being parents if you ask me. A key part in being a parent is explaining the world to a child and answering any questions raised by the child, on any subject really.

I'd much rather my kid come to me with a question than not allowing it to watch/listen to X or Y.

Allowing a child to develop an opinion from day 1 is another big part of parenting.

  19. I was raised on Disney as well.

I am not a fan of TV in general to be honest. I guess it depends more so on the parents then what the kids are actually watching.
