Episode 426 of ROH Wrestling featured highlights from Honor United in the UK. Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham reunited, the Women’s Championship had shenanigans, and Shane Taylor put his TV title on the line against Joe Hendry.

Quick results:

Highlights of Shane Taylor and Joe Hendry going to a 15-minute time limit draw. That means Hendry will receive a future ROH World Television Champion title shot. That rematch will be the main event of this episode.

Highlights of Rush vs Jeff Cobb for the ROH World Championship. Rush retained after an overhead German suplex into the corner and two Bull’s Horns running dropkicks.

Highlights of Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham reuniting as pals. In singles action, Gresham beat Jay Briscoe after mist and a roll-up. In other singles action, Mark Briscoe was bleeding against Lethal. Jay came down to check on his brother. Gresham overzealously ran in with a chair. Lethal admonished Gresham, took the chair, then said, “I’m going to show you how it’s done.” Lethal surprise whacked Jay with the chair. Gresham hugged Lethal in jubilation.

Cut to a promo from Lethal and Gresham. Lethal said the fan favorites do whatever the hell they want to do, and nobody says a word about it. So, they will now do the same. They want two things. First, a level playing field in ROH. Second, the tag team belts.

Cut to Lethal vs PCO. Gresham interfered with a chair. Gresham announced that they will do that every show until ROH gives them a World Tag Team Championship match against the Briscoes. The Briscoes ran down, and all four brawled.

Highlights of Kelly Klein vs Mandy Leon for the Women of Honor World Championship. Leon lured Klein with a chair. The referee took the chair, then Leon hit Klein with the title belt. Leon pinned Klein for an apparent win to become new champ, however, a second referee came down to reverse the decision. The match continued. Klein immediately won via K Power fireman’s carry driver to retain her title.

Action-packed highlights of Flamita vs “Speedball” Mike Bailey. Bailey is a Taekwondo black belt. Flamita won after a superkick, double underhook powerbomb, and 450 splash.

Time for the full match main event between Shane Taylor and Joe Hendry for the ROH World Television Championship. It went close to fifteen minutes. For the finishing sequence, Taylor hit a package piledriver. Hendry kicked out. Taylor with a flying splash. Hendry kicked out then powered up for an overhead slam. Kick out by Taylor. Ankle lock by Hendry. Taylor eventually muscled out. Taylor escaped a body slam then headbutted Hendry in the chest. Hendry’s night was over after a sitdown shoulderbreaker/piledriver. Taylor retained his gold.
That was a nice little story of Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham teaming together again as Lethal turned heel. I certainly wasn’t expecting Lethal to blast Jay Briscoe with a chair. It was simple yet effective heeling to build desire in seeing the Briscoes whoop their butts.

This was my first time seeing “Speedball” Mike Bailey. I’ll always pop for martial artists in the square circle. There’s something about the clash in styles that will never get old. The highlights against Flamita were mighty fine. That was the best part of this episode.

The main event TV title match was okay overall with an entertaining finish. Hendry showed intestinal fortitude by not giving in to defeat. His comeback made me think there might be a new champ. Not on that evening. Taylor was too much to handle.

ROH announced matches for Final Battle on Dec. 13 during the week.
