The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 26, 2020, at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to either the Raw (World) or SmackDown (Univesal) championship for the men, and either the Raw or SmackDown women’s title for the women.

We’re one week away from showtime, and the card currently looks like this:

  • Men’s Royal Rumble match

Who has declared so far: Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Shinsuke Nakamura, Braun Strowman, Erick Rowan, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Elias, Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre, Otis, Tucker, Rusev, Bobby Lashley, Aleister Black, Buddy Murphy

  • Women’s Royal Rumble match

Who has declared so far: Charlotte Flair,

  • Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (Universal championship)

Daniel Bryan won a triple threat match over The Miz and Baron Corbin to earn top contender status. He’s since gotten an assist from Kane in his quest to overcome “The Fiend.” He’s also decided to make it a Strap match.

  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Asuka (Raw women’s championship)

Becky has been working for this for a while, saying she wants to avenge her loss from last year’s Royal Rumble. The build has centered around Lynch putting Asuka over as her greatest challenge and her strong desire to finally overcome it.

  • Bayley (c) vs. Lacey Evans (SmackDown women’s championship)

Evans was embroiled in a feud with Sasha Banks after The Boss got Evans’ daughter involved. However, Sasha missed multiple scheduled matches for various reasons, with Bayley stepping in for the last one and dropping a non-title match. That gave Evans a shot at the title.

  • Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin

This was added to the card because these two are going to wrestle forever, apparently. Reigns won a Tables match against Bobby Roode for the right to select the stipulation that would be added to it, and he chose a Falls Count Anywhere match.

  • Sheamus vs. Shorty G

Sheamus returned to television recently vowing to run through everyone. Shorty G is the first guy he’s gone after.

That’s the card.
