The People's Champion

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Super ShowDown event set to take place on Thurs., Feb. 27, 2020, at International Arena at The Boulevard in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the latest event in the deal between WWE and Saudi Arabia.

We’re less than one week from showtime and here’s how the card looks:

  • Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Ricochet (WWE championship)

Ricochet defeated Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins in a triple threat match to become top contender and earn this match. They have history, what with Ricochet nutshotting Lesnar just before he was eliminated from the Royal Rumble by Drew McIntyre. There hasn’t been much in the way of actual build, probably because everyone in the world knows Ricochet isn’t winning and this is just a stopgap to get to WrestleMania.

  • Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Goldberg (Universal championship)

Goldberg basically just booked himself into this match, saying Wyatt was next. He’s since shown zero fear of “The Fiend,” even spearing him and laughing after Bray ran away under cover of darkness.

  • Bayley (c) vs. Naomi (SmackDown women’s championship)

A top contender match pitting Naomi vs. Carmella saw the former emerge victorious to set up this history making match. It will be the first time a WWE women’s title will be defended in Saudi Arabia.

  • The New Day (c) vs. John Morrison & The Miz (SmackDown tag team championship)

Morrison and Miz won a Fatal 4-Way on SmackDown to earn this title shot. They had previously earned singles victories in separate matches.

  • Seth Rollins & Murphy (c) vs. The Street Profits (Raw tag team championship)

The Street Profits helped Kevin Owens & The Viking Raiders fight off the champs on Raw, and just sort of ended up with a title shot out of it!

  • Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match

The participants: AJ Styles (fresh off injury), Andrade (fresh off suspension), Bobby Lashley, Erick Rowan, R-Truth, and Rusev.

  • Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin (Steel cage)

Corbin, humiliated by dog food, demanded yet another match with Reigns. Roman agreed but only if it was a steel cage match.

There were rumors that suggested Hulk Hogan would make an appearance but there’s but nothing to hint at that, including during an interview he did on SmackDown a couple weeks ago. This could very well end up being the final match card.
