NXT’s version of Halloween Havoc is only two weeks away (Oct. 28) so they had to start booking the card tonight. They did so with a classic stipulation and leaning on the biggest strength of their promotion.
NXT’s women’s division has been their strongest feature and so far, so they are strongly represented on special.
We already knew Shotzi Blackheart was going to host the show. They also added two women’s matches. They also added a men’s title match and brought back an old stipulation.
Io Shirai will defend her title against Candice LeRae in a TakeOver 31 rematch. LeRae defeated Blackheart tonight with an assist from brass knuckles supplied by Indi Hartwell to earn that right.
Johnny Gargano will also get a TakeOver 31 rematch against Damian Priest. After Priest successfully defended his North American title against Dexter Lumis (thanks to a sneaky Cave In by Cameron Grimes), Johnny Gargano attacked the champ with a chair.
That’s when General Manager William Regal booked the North American title match. And host Shotzi Blackheart let both Garganos know the stipulation for both their matches would be Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal.
This was an old Halloween Havoc staple with a wheel of random extreme stipulations. So they’re keeping with tradition. (Hopefully, they do with the stage as well!)
Finally, two powerhouse women will collide when Rhea Ripley and Raquel González finally go head to head. This showdown has been teased for a little while now and will finally happen at Halloween Havoc.
The card thus far:
- Io Shirai (c) vs. Candice LeRae for the NXT Women’s championship (Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal)
- Damian Priest (c) vs. Johnny Gargano for the North American championship (Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal)
- Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel González
