What will Reigns taking the belt off Brock mean for the WWE?

I skimmed through this article: WWE Raw Fans Must Accept The Inevitability Of Brock Lesnar Vs. Roman Reigns

And found this point interesting:
"It will end Lesnar's reign of terror, which has hampered the pushes of a number of stars, including Ambrose and Strowman. It will put the title on a full-timer who is a hard worker, a top notch in-ring performer and a tremendous overall talent. It will give more opportunities to Raw's other top stars to challenge for a world title because Reigns will be around all the time after Lesnar wasn't. It will ensure that someone else gets the rub as well when a current star is the one who eventually dethrones Reigns."

A lot of people have complained about a part timer holding the belt and the lack of focus on wrestlers who put the time in and deserve more of a spotlight. As much as many people would hate to admit it, Reigns getting the belt off Brock is a good thing for WWE in general. The belt will be put on someone who will be there every week. If you decide to cheer or boo, that is your choice but hey! You have the choice with the big daaawwwg at least.

I'm a Brock fan to a degree and I feel like his presence in the WWE doesn't need a title attached to it to get the crowd and the fans worked up. We all know this match is going to happen come Wrestlemania and when Roman does get the belt off Roman... Will there really be that much to complain about? What are your thoughts?

Will this change anything for the WWE?

Yes. It will make things better. Remember Reign's last world title run? Sure the lead in to him getting it sucked (Ambrose was white hot but got jobbed out to HHH so that Reigns could get the title back from HHH after losing it at the "One vs. All" Rumble (AKA one of the worst Rumbles ever).

But after WM he had some great matches against AJ and then lost the title to Seth (Dean cash in period). So hopefully we get some good matches with him vs Finn, Braun, Miz etc. as champion. I just hope he doesn't lose it to another part timer again. I am sick of old timers holding the Universal title. Goldberg and Lesnar are good enough to give it some legitimacy. But now some of the current roster needs to hold it.

Fans Must Accept The Inevitability Of Brock Lesnar Vs. Roman Reigns
I don't have to accept shit from the WWE & too many fans have this pathetic,
defeated attitude.

"Well...Vince isn't going to change his mind so I guess we just have to grin & bear it"

FUCK THAT!!!

Its really easy people...simply ignore him or stop watching the product altogether.

If the money stops coming in...then maybe Vince will realize that they made a
mistake in picking "A Guy" instead of letting the fans pick one.

BUT
...having the belt on the Plank of Wood is better than it being on Lesnar...
I will admit that.

which has hampered the pushes of a number of stars, including Ambrose and Strowman.
Are they talking about Lesnar or the Plank of Wood because from where I'm
sitting the Plank of Wood has hampered a lot more pushes & careers than
Lesnar has.

It will ensure that someone else gets the rub as well when a current star is the one who eventually dethrones Reigns.
The key word being eventually...my guess is the Plank of Wood
will hold the belt for at least 435 days (because that Punk guy
is an asshole!) and even then...who do honestly think Vince
will have go over the Plank of Wood?

Balor? Strowman? Joe? Owens? Styles? Cesaro? Rusev? Rollins? The Miz?

No...that isn't happening. Once the Plank of Wood gets that belt
only an injury or a wellness policy violation will get it off him.

Don't be surprised if Strowman is traded to SmackDown after
Wrestlemania so he can have a run with the world title. I'm
calling it now.

Seriously though...the Plank of Wood being the Universal Champion doesn't
effect me one bit...because I still won't be watching any of his matches.

They need to have Brock dominate the match and Reigns just survive. They can't risk doing to Reigns what they did to the Ultimate Warrior. By having him only lose one match and then be the first person in WWF to pin Hulk Hogan CLEANLY since the beginning of Hulkamania, they overpowered Warrior and he had no credible opponent. By having Brock be what he has been, they just need to do the match right.

Personally, I don't mind or care. The brand split was a good idea and I am happy with Reigns getting the Universal title because I don't consider it in the same league as the WWE Championship. They might see Reigns as the top guy, but for me the top guy will be the WWE Champion. So I don't mind.

I've actually been thinking about them doing the opposite route. They already did that angle at Mania 31 where Brock destroys Reigns, so given that they've been building up both of them quite well over the past year, I thought about switching roles this time. So Reigns would get more offense in at the start and then Brock would make a huge comeback (which people will cheer for) and then they'd start having an interesting back and forth encounter towards the end. Because in kayfabe, Brock's gonna go "I already destroyed you at Mania 31 so why should it be any different now?" and the match at 34 would kinda show that Reigns got a lot smarter and better than he was 3 years ago. But I understand that it is kind of risky to give Reigns the dominant role, even if it's just for the first half the match, given the crowd's attitude towards Reigns but I think it would make so much more sense storyline wise.

Talking about Reigns as champ in general, of course it will change things for the E because soon they're gonna have a champion that's here every week again, not that I was annoyed by Brock's absence, but it's probably just easier for them to put the shows together with a champ who's around. Me personally, I'm looking forward to it and I can tell WWE's looking forward to having a championship match every PPV again as well (given that they already played with the thought of giving it to a full timer back in August). Reigns is more than capable of putting on a good match with anyone so I have little doubt in the quality of his defenses. If I was a betting man I'd say they're eventually gonna go back to Strowman vs Reigns but this time for the title, which is gonna be tremendous as always.

All in all I think I might be in the minority here but I've been really enjoying their approach to this match. Is it obvious? Yes, but so are a lot of good things in wrestling, besides, this is exactly what people have been criticizing WWE for.. their lack of planning storylines in advance. And this year they almost pulled a Cena/Rock on us where the first story that broke after Mania 33 was that they're already planning Brock/Reigns 2 and they stuck to it and built both of them up accordingly

Honestly, I've been looking forward to this match for a long time. The Mania 31 match was amazing in my view. It told an awesome story. Reigns kept kicking out of F-5s and laughing when Brock was attacking him. I didn't really see it as Brock destroying Roman because he couldn't Roman away. Honestly, it's my favorite Roman match. I have been looking forward to the rematch for a long time.

In regards to having a champion there all the time, I couldn't agree more. When Brock loses the belt, he'll have held it for a year but barely defended it. It tarnishes the belt in my mind.

But your scenario is pretty good. I just don't want them to OP Roman. They did it with Warrior and it was bad. But I think Roman will not dominate much, but he will weather all of Brock's offense. Roman will go to suplex city, but it won't hold him down.

So anyway, I am not a Roman fan as you all know, but I am seriously looking forward to this match. The last one was amazing. I want to see if this one can be.

I have to agree with that Roman holding the title, with it actually being featured on WWE TV again regularly, will be good. Not to mention the match between Brock and Roman can have the potential of being good (Sorry Jacob, I don't think their WM match was amazing. It was pretty good, but it didn't blow my socks off until I heard this song.) I guess it's just more that, right now, with Roman winning, it is a mixed bag. One positive is that "Hey, we'll hopefully get it over with, the champion will be on TV more at least, and hopefully that means others will get the spotlight since they basically made Brock unstoppable just for Roman." But, at the same time, there is always the fear of them going back to the booking that hurt Roman in the first place, and there is always the risk of Reigns becoming the guy who stops people's pushes now. Idk, I guess I still find it hard to fully back Roman. I admit improvement in most areas, but I just feel something is missing from him personally. But, a champion on Raw regularly is better than none at all.

They never went away from that booking...why does everyone think they did?

He has been for at least 3 years now.

I admit improvement in most areas, but I just feel something is missing from him personally.
Its called a "personality" most people have one...the Plank of Wood unfortunately does not.
Most pieces of lumber don't...unless they are being held by Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

But, a champion on Raw regularly is better than none at all.
I agree 100%...even if I think it should be someone else.

In hindsight, it feels like it's good to get this transitional reign over with and go ahead and crown Roman champion at Wrestlemania, getting out of this holding pattern and onto real stories...

But looking back on the build-up to matches this year I'm going to miss Brock as champion (sorta). When you heard his match with Joe was happening most of us were absolutely pumped, when we heard his match with Strowman was coming you could just envision what kind of chaos and cartoon violence would happen. These matches felt special, the match with AJ felt special, largely because Brock wasn't overexposed. Now we did run into the issue of these matches falling flat and being used to get this match over which has hurt it in hindsight... But don't forget Brock brought some big hype to his matches.

But after Wrestlemania, Roman will have to go back to having matches with the rest of the roster in matches we've all seen before. He'll have matches with Joe and Strowman and Balor and Cena and Rollins and maybe Styles and Orton and Nakamura, so while the matches won't feel special we may look back come Summerslam at "Ya know... I still don't like the agenda behind Roman, but we're getting some pretty damn good main events". It won't help the product feel special again, though...

I don't know how it will play out. But we have to accept it's coming and most just seem numb to it at this point. So let's see what happens I guess

And that is honestly an issue. For crowning a top star you would ideally want the crowd to be excited for them, not "Okay, I guess..."

When Bret Hart climbed to the top, the crowd were excited about it. When Steve Austin got to the top the crowd loved it, the crowd were looking forward to Cena and Batista becoming stars (afterward, another story). Daniel Bryan winning was amazing. But for Roman it has just been anywhere from "Meh" to "Eww" to downright anger. You want the crowd giving an electric response to the "hero" of the story climbing to the top, but the past three Wrestlemania's it has been, in response to the big dog, either fear, boredom, or anger and if, for a third year in a row (excluding WM 31 as Seth cashed in) if Roman Reigns wins the main event with either boos or indifference, just *sighs*

I (Sorry Jacob, I don't think their WM match was amazing. It was pretty good, but it didn't blow my socks off until I heard this song.) .
The match benefited from low expectations. It was an extremely unpopular match but it delivered beyond what anyone thought it would. It was an excellent story telling match as Brock completely dominated Roman but couldn't put him down. It was intense when Brock finally hurt his head and it seemed like Roman had a shot. I dunno. I have to admit my favorite part was Rollins cashing in BUT I think even without that, it was a great match. But I think it probably seemed greater to me because I was expecting a crap match.
