The good news is, it’s release day for the latest licensed pro wrestling sports entertainment video game from WWE and 2K.

The bad news is, those clips you may have seen floating around from advanced copies gaming influencers got their hands on? They may actually be indicative of the quality of WWE 2K20. #FixWWE2K20 has been trending on Twitter all morning, and that’s certainly not what anyone involved in creating and promoting the game wanted:

I’ve heard the term “running the ropes”, but this is ridiculous. #wwe2k20 #FixWWE2K20 pic.twitter.com/TQu8CvyRVi

We don’t have a ton of reviews available for the game on release date - which in and of itself may be a sign developers know this isn’t their finest effort. Some patches certainly appear to be in order, and will hopefully be coming in swift order.

Professional feedback - like this post on the new game from Brian Mazique for Forbes - praises this year’s edition for adding new features and evolve what you can get from a wrestling game, while at the same time blasting it for poor gameplay.

We’ll have to wait and see if 2K responds with a statement regarding the complaints, or how quickly they release some fixes. In the meantime, here’s their latest press release running down the features and explaining what they were trying to accomplish with WWE 2K20:

Once again the WWE fans are expected to just "shut up & take it"
as the company they love so much dishes up some more pathetic,
glitch filled horse shit.

As with any product...you vote with your wallets...so if you want
these games to improve...JUST STOP BUYING THEM!

This is a disgrace. So much advertising for this horse shit and it ends up having graphics from 2005 and less game modes than last year. I understand that it is tough that Yukes left, but you could have just waited for next year.

Do these people even get that all WWE games from 2014-2019 were basically all the SAME with only exception being updated roster? There is no point in spending 60 euros for that. And no, I’m not buying this year’s shit you made to get some cash from the marks.

Just to give some insight about what fucking joke this game really is:
- R-Truth is the HARDCORE champion. They didn’t even bother to make 24/7.
- Create a championship mode is removed. Thought about making that 24/7 championship? Perhaps AEW World title? No-no.
- Current reigning Cruiserweight champion Lio Rush is NOT in the game.
- Chyna, who is in the game after more than 15 years for the first time, can NOT fight men. Seriously, what’s the point of having her at all then? Her whole career was intergender wrestling.
- Graphics are seriously downgraded in comprison to 2k19. With all honesty, most of the wrestler characters looked better on SvR 07 on XBOX 360. Especially Ric Flair, he appearently has Down syndrome in this game.
Hair of characters look better even in NBA 2k series.
- Universe mode is EXACTLY the same. They only made 15 new animations and more match slots, it doesn’t even count in my book. That could have been done even 5 years ago.
- Glitches are annoying and constant. If you buy a game right now it won’t be fully playable. They announced fixing of the glitches for 1th November.

This is just a bad copy of 2k19 suitable for Hull Cogan fans. A very bad one.
