Kayfabe Voting Category

Poll closed Sep 2, 2014.
  1. Keep

  2. Replace

  1. Ok, I think we have gotten quite a few people who dislike the kayfabe category. I know I am not a big fan. Neither is @Dat Kid . Some of you do like it though. So lets hash it out here. Do we keep the kayfabe rating in the voting or switch it out?
  2. I don't really like it, nor do I like the attack on opponent one you suggested. At the same time I'm not sure what we can replace it with :lol1:
  3. Yeah, I'm kind of at a loss as to what we should use. I still think length should be included, but everyone hated that. What else is there? I think Quality and Entertainment are one in the same and we got that covered. And Used Potential is tough IMO. I mean what I see as missed/used potential may not be the same as what someone else sees. I guess it depends on the voter, but what do you use to change your scores positively or negatively?
  4. Every option depends on the voter, it's all their opinion. Their is no fact when scoring something :lol1:
  5. I wish there was though. It would still vary of course, but I wish we had some guidelines or something.
  6. I vote replace not sure what you could replace it with

  7. Why do we have all the categories, why don't we have people rate their promos on a scale of 1 to 10 with 5 intervals i.e. 6/6.5/7/7.5/8/8.5/9

  8. Zach brings up a good point. We could have a scale of 1-10 on each individual promos. The only thing is I know @Delik sets up these polls in advance.
  9. Huh?
  10. I suppose thats not a bad idea. Each individual promo gets a rating 1-10, then the averages are done like usual. It could work I suppose.

  11. ^See above
  12. The categories are to help understand why someone voted what they did, and to help combat bias voting (which this system has done efficiently)
  13. Thats true too. It has helped in some ways, but we will never be able to avoid it all together.
  14. IMO going back to a system where people can just give scores will bring back a bit more bias voting, because they're under no obligation to explain why they voted what they did. Removing the categories all together is a bit drastic, isn't it? It's only 1 category that needs re-worked, imo.
  15. I was saying you set up polls in advance so if we were rating 1-10 on each individual promo you would have to adjust it before putting it up because of the undetermined number of promos.
  16. Nah I calculate the results once all the votes are counted. I only set them up early for SummerSlam because I was on holiday, and I made a small cell calculation error on the formula (basically it was trying to workout the result from cells too far down, so it was just returning an error) so Trip had to do it manually. When I'm here I don't do the result until the voting is over.
  17. Cool
  18. Right, I was supposed to be able to just follow the link and see the results, but no such luck :boohoo:
  19. I may be alone, but why not go back to the poll system....

  20. Imo, results shouldn't be based on voting averages as it opens opportunity for exploitation of bias voting to occur. Sure, keep the categories so people can organise how they rate each promo, but if Wrestler A got 9/9/9 and Wrestler B got 8/8/8 from Voter C then it should just amount to a vote to Wrestler A instead of the scores going towards an average score.

Also, and I can see why this suggestion isn't as valid, but I feel like quality is more valid than entertaining. A promo can give me entertainment, but it doesn't mean it was well written or was necessarily suited to that match. For example, Jonathon gave THG a 5 in entertaining in the SS ME. IMO that's a rating that should be NOWHERE NEAR THG's promo! It was a great promo, entertainment is a personal judgement, different people are entertained more/less by different music for example.

I thought I might as well list my feelings on some things as we've currently hit a point where pretty much everyone is going to weigh in on voting.
