    8.7%
  2. Use this idea, use the 'gauge', keep the number count shown

    8.7%
  3. Use this idea, use the 'bar chart', keep the number count shown

  4. Use this idea, but show no results until voting is closed

  5. I don't like this idea

  1. Currently people can be swayed to vote for someone if they see their friends voting for someone, and it can cause trouble if one competitor sees everyone voting for the other person.
Xenforo currently doesn't allow us to keep the voting private until after the vote is done, it's either public or private. Here's a different option.

    We have a form, example A: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1IHoFV1Ua1YjpJsUh8wTf6y_rQnCquLIRXs_Ya33AwlI/viewform

When voting opens, they go to the form and vote, just like they do on a forum poll. The difference is, they can't see the results. People will have to actually decide for themselves who they want to vote for.

Votes are stored in a spreadsheet, then once voting is over they can go and see who voted for who. Example B: http://i.gyazo.com/cb6b82f20711de587e12efff106774e5.png

It's all calculated by a countif statement, so no manual work needed.

However, if IWT still wants to at least see what the current numbers are, but without seeing who voted, I also have this. This is just an image which can be put at the top of the OP, which updates every time you refresh. Every time a vote is added, it dynamically updates.

    Example C and D:

(Notice the lack of numbers on the bar chart. You need to decide whether you only want to see who's winning, or if you ALSO want to see how many by, as shown on the 'gauge' one.)

This way, they can still see who has what vote, just not who voted for them. Once the voting is complete, the form can be opened so they can see who voted for who, as long as the match is over. You'll see what member voted for what competitor, and you can even count if you don't believe the automatic calculations.

This doesn't necessarily counter-act multi account voting, just like we can't now. I mean, you have to enter your username so at least that is stored.. but about people using other people's names to votes, I'll include a poll on the match thread saying 'Have you voted' and if they have they have to click yes (will be the only option) so I can see if people are just using other people's names. If you don't vote 'yes' on the match thread poll, your vote WILL NOT COUNT. It's a little more effort but will be worth it.

So, this is the current voting method we're looking to use going forward. What's your opinions?

If you want to test this now, follow the instructions below:

If you want to see it updating, open the image ere: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...QnQxalp6X3hrWC03cmFaVEE&oid=2&zx=9i7kcjtlbin6

Then go to the form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1IHoFV1Ua1YjpJsUh8wTf6y_rQnCquLIRXs_Ya33AwlI/viewform

Fill it in, then refresh the image.

Credits to Trip for the original idea

  2. And let the heat wave begin :troll:

  3. @Delik - FYI, I just tried to use the test twice and it didn't work (I think). At least the numbers in the image did not update

  5. THE ONLY PERSON WITH DK JAMES!

  6. Figured that worked at least, just saying the count in the test image didn't change. I'll try again. Good to see it was recorded twice at least.

  7. Just entered a vote for DK and it still says THG 19 and DK 9, like it did before I voted again. Not saying it won't work, just trying to let you know it doesn't seem like the test image is working (not for me anyway).

OH there it goes! Just did a refresh again before I hit post. Maybe it just takes a lil while.

  8. you have to refresh lol, states so in the OP. It's not dynamic like that unfortunately

  14. Dude, Trip said about storing votes elsewhere and then showing them later. It's not like he gave the whole idea. Relax. And I don't ever remember you making an actual useful suggestion. You made one, and I implemented it. What's your problem.
