Want to get back into WWE

  1. Heyy

So I haven't watched or followed WWE since early 2000s. Is it worth watching now? If so what do I need to know about the current roster, I don't know like half of them lol

Side note I watched WCW/ WWF since I was little and just kinda stopped watching...

Oh and is it very deferent from the Hardy Boyz era? That was by far my favorite with the TLC matches
  2. Welcome!

I'd say yes, and the best way to get into again is to just watch an episode of Raw or SmackDown. WWE has ups and downs, but there is no lack of incredible moments.
Right now, there is a brand split meaning Raw and SmackDown compete vs each other and have their own unique belts and PPV's.
Perhaps watch some of this years PPV's like Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

  3. This year's Royal Rumble would be a good way to start.

You've got a lot of catching up to do, pal.

  4. Definitely start from the Royal Rumble. I stopped watching in 2005 and started watching again in 2015 and began with the Royal Rumble. It was a good way to get familiar with all the new characters.

  5. I'll check out the royal rumble.

How would you compare today's WWE to 2005's??
  6. It's better overall I think. They're not going for the huge, beefy wrestlers as the champions so much anymore. They're generally relying more on talent, whether big or small.

It has it's ups and downs for sure but I'd say it's in a much better state than 2005

  7. Just finished watching the Royal Rumble.. It was pretty good!!

Was hoping Jericho would win but I'm glad the game one! Some of the new guys seem pretty cool and was surprised that the Big Show was still around and Mark Henrey wtf lol Didn't really like the Wyatt Brothers or Kevin Owens.

Think I'll watch another PPV and decide if I'll try and watch Raw and Smackdown
  8. Watch anything with AJ styles, Seth Rollins, Sami zayn, Kevin Owens, or even some Roman stuff.

  9. AJ Styles was the one guy who really stood out to me. I'll definitely check out some of his matches
  10. The younger/current talent is where it is at in my opinion.
It's cool that guys like Show and Henry have stuck around for so long, and the odd Undertaker appearance is cool. But the action is with the current crop.

Hunter tends to overstay his welcome. Granted he has fully embraced McMahonmania at this stage in life.

  11. Yeah much like stone cold Sam Adams, I too left in 2005 and returned in 2015. For wrestlemania though so I wasn't familiar with hardly anyone. Brock, hhh, sting, orton... other than that it was all fresh faces. Since then I'm very pleased with the majority of the product and I'm an avid viewer, never missing an episode. It's so much easier nowadays since we're able to record anything on tv to watch whenever we please.

I'd say star power-wise, it's not as big as it used to be. Gone are the days of kurt angle, Benoit, Guerrero, even Jericho is much past his prime. But now we have people like seth rollins, aj styles, Kevin owens (who is commentary gold and believe it or not amazing wrestling skills for a man of his build.)

I'd say catch up on the ppvs from this year, test out the waters get to know the different characters, and start watching the weekly episodes. Ever since mania this year, I think most can agree, the show has got much much better. Plus being in the new, un named era, there's plenty of new talent even since I've started watching.

Just try and take away the positives rather than the negatives and I'm sure you'll be pleased.
