We Should Be Entitled To Love Our Own

Discussion in 'Serious Topics & Debates' started by Neptune, May 12, 2016.

  1. I think it is a fair statement to say we are all entitled to love and appreciate our own ethnicity (not race) no matter what it is.

But what I see is a lot of white people (American,Canadian, British, Irish, Scottish, German, French, ect) being called racists for doing this. I do not understand this. When it comes to churches, groups, and other segregated areas it seems the only ones who are viewed as being racism (for the most part) are white ones. It is perfectly fine for black people to have their black panther group even though they talk about killing whites. To get pissed when whites did the same thing (KKK) is messed up. What I see is a lot of crap happening all over the world where the poorer cultures are being entitled to hand outs and benefits from the white groups. They take these hand outs and this help then spit in the faces of the people who helped them. I am not one of those white people who go around screaming that whites are the "superior race". I don't think one "race" is greater or less than one to the next... But apparently, everyone else does and if I did think this, I would be a racist because I am white.

"The world population can be divided into 4 major races, namely white/Caucasian, Mongoloid/Asian, Negroid/Black, and Australoid. This is based on a racial classification made by Carleton S. Coon in 1962. There is no universally accepted classification for “race”, however, and its use has been under fire over the last few decades. The United Nations, in a 1950 statement, opted to “drop the term ‘race’ altogether and speak of “ethnic groups”. In this case, there are more than 5,000 ethnic groups in the world, according to a 1998 study published in the Scientific "

Racism back in the day was all about cultural differences but today it is mainly about stereotypes and appearance. Technically speaking, true racism doesn't exist because as far as the term "race" goes, Science don't believe in it. There is only one race and that is the human race. What it going on is Ethnicism. Where people are judging each other based on their ethnicity. Actually, me using terms like white and black is actually contributing to the term "racism" still being used. We should be calling each other what we are based on ethnic descent. Since I am mixed and you clearly can't tell what ethnic groups I come from, I would just be claimed to the land and be an American. Since "black people" can be clearly identified as being descents from Africa, They would be African-American. I think you get where I am going with this. These terms are used but not enough. People need to stop identifying as white, black, ect and be what they actually are. You are either a mixed product of the country you were born in (I am American) or you are a decent from another country which would make you "blank"-American. This is the same for every other country... or at least it should be.

People who continue to use artificial words to describe a "set race" of people is not only backwards logic, but completely contradictory. Racism itself is a walking contradiction. As mentioned, Ethnicsm is what is happening here. We all essentially came from the same place which makes us ONE RACE so to say someone is a racist is ti imply they hate all humans. If you want to end "racism" stop using the word and start seeing everyone as equal instead of as stereotypes. Not all white people like mayonnaise or drink tea, not all black people are thugs and criminals, not all hispanics are drug pushers...

With that all being said I see no reason why it is a bad thing to love your ethnicity and be proud of your heritage so long as it is not steamed from "racism" or as I call it, "ethnicism". At the end of the day, we all bleed the same color. Be proud of who you are be it American, African, British, Canadian, ect or a mix of two. And don't let anyone say you are racist for doing it.

And by all means, if the law permits it, celebrate your ethnic holidays and ethnicity but don't get pissed when other people in the country you are in choose to do so as well. Take it as a compliment because they are praising your heritage, not mocking it. You want to make America great again? Allow us all to love and teach our heritage (of course in a logical and law abiding manner). There is only one race and that is the human race. For the love of God (or whatever you believe in), learn to love yourselves so you can better love and respect each other.

I wondered for a while whether or not I should even jump into this because it's the sort of issue I could talk about for a very long time. However I have so much I have to do that I really cannot afford to get too bogged down in a discussion so I'll just make a few light comments.

I think you've reduced the argument to something much simpler than it is. While this is not true of all whites, there are some white people who start their "white pride" as nothing more than a reaction to to black pride. And there are people who are like this... I know because I am related to them. Their concept of white pride is their ability to not only be racist, but not to be judged by that racism. My thought has always been if you are going to be racist, fine, but own up to it.

White pride can only be white pride when it is not to the detriment of other races. For example, I have relatives who spout their white pride and they think it should be illegal for blacks to hold office. That is not white pride, that is racism. White pride for them has become nothing but a phrase to hide their racism behind.

And I am not saying that there are not "white pride" people who really are proud of being white. I am also not saying that there are not black pride people who are not racist against whites. Of course there are. But many of the people I know who spout the idea of white pride ARE racists. I don't judge them for being proud of their ethnicity, but I do judge them for the very specific ideas they have that are harmful to other ethnic groups.

And your KKK analogy is very faulty. The KKK existed LONG before the black panthers. And this is relevant because your comment was:

Whites didn't do the same thing with the KKK. Whites did the KKK thing 100 years before the black panther thing. And the KKK has done a LOT more than just talking about killing blacks. They have done it PLENTY of times.

The KKK was never started as a "white pride"group. The agenda of the Klan has always been to oppose the civil rights of other groups. The original Black Panthers were a group that only existed between 1966 and 1982 and their original intent was to monitor police activity to make sure that the black rights were not being trod upon. The original black panthers have come out and said the current group is a hate group and has denounced them, in basis not saying they are okay.

The KKK still exists and their agenda is outwardly anti black (among other races), whereas the original black panther group no longer exists as the current one is not a successor.

But this is a discussion that's been going on for a long time and will probably be going on long after both of us are dead.
  3. Who has ever said the Black Panthers were ok? lol

  4. Point was being that no one tries to stop them anymore but any wind catches of the KKK it gets shut down imitatively. Just showing how one is ignored and the other is not yet both suck.
  5. It's all perspective. There are plenty of people nowadays who denounce the New Black Panther Party, including the original Black Panther Party. And there are plenty of people who denounce the KKK. On the other side, I am sure there are people who exalt the New Black Panther Party and the KKK. You probably hear and see more about the KKK because it's a much bigger and older institution, but I really don't see a double standard applied here.
  6. Oh and just to let you know, I am not arguing for or against your argument. I'm just nitpicking cause it's what I do ;)
  7. It's the reputation. KKK, for one, is older and has killed/destroyed more than the Black Panthers. I'm not saying the Panthers are any better - just saying that the reputation the KKK has garnered gives the group a more Taboo effect.
